View Full Version : Is closure with my ex really necessary?

We had been going out for more than a year already when I found out that she had been participating in multiple city singles tours for a few months. After an ugly confrontation, I broke up with her and haven’t been in contact since. A few nights ago, I checked Messenger on my phone and saw that she sent me an IM saying she wanted to talk for “closure.” I didn’t respond until now and my friends have been telling me to go for it; for my own peace of mind too. I don’t really feel like seeing her face again or much less, sitting down at some restaurant or café to rehash issues. Is closure really necessary? I know I’m alright without it and to be frank, I don’t really care if she’s still hung over on our relationship because of the wrong she did.

I don't think closure is necessary until one person asks for it. But even if closure is necessary for you two, you're obviously not ready for it because I think you're still disappointed and mad at her. She's probably seen how much pain she's caused you and maybe she wants to apologize or something. Perhaps she deserves the talk, but you can't have it when you're still so mad at her.
