No doubt in my mind. However I would say porn is detrimental not necessarily masturbation. I mean you're looking at "fake girls" cosmetics, photo shop, make up, camera and lighting tricks, etc. It makes them appear 10/10, in reality they may be 7s or 8s. If you're getting off a t seemingly flawless 10s doing extremly perverse things, then of course a normal girl will not be a turn on.

Drop it for a 3-4 weeks and you'll notice getting erections out of the blue and looking at 7s and 8s that normally you wouldn't.

It's an interesting read and makes sense, but a little hard to take seriously.

Now there's a good possibility I may be blind, but I wasn't able to locate any citations nor sources for that matter. All of which lead me to believe this could be merely opinion.

right you are about the porn. but what really bothered me about the chemical reactions of masturbation is the increased levels of prolacin.

we know that once you masturbate and that huge rush of dopamine is released, its replaced by the anti happy juice. prolacin. which is a completely natural function i know.....

but high levels of prolacin is a serious factor in people who suffer from prlonged depression. high prolacin levels decrease appetite, decrease sexual arousal and pretty much bring everything down if prolonged.

i should have specified what i meant, but if your a porn addict and masturbate a coupel times a day, you could be increasing the prolacin levels in your brain to unhealthy levels... especially with the desensitization from porn, it could be a recipe for disaster that i want all of us in the community to avoid.

basically like you said prada, dont masturbate constantly and all should be fine

It doesn't match with my experience.

If I don't get hormones flowing regularly enough, my sex drive can cave in and be hard to jumpstart again. After 3-4 weeks of no orgasms, even most attractive girl would do nothing for me, unless I work myself out of it. It's more like inertia than buildup.

Common misconception.

Flawless aesthetically isn't a guarantee of boner at all. Many of common girls roaming the streets turn me on more than, say, Playboy bunnies.

Even "common girls" can be enhanced. Remove errant body hair, remove scars, bleach their butt-holes, have their hair done, stretch marks hidden, etc. To most men that would be sexier. For some men, female body hair, scars, acne, etc may be sexier perhaps. There is also girl-next-door- type of porn and Im sure that an actual girl-next-door would be found much sexier in front of the camera once enhanced then in real life by the vast majority of men. If not for you the thats good for you.

Is this about porn and masturbation or just masturbation in general without the porn

It sounds like he "borrowed" from a study or two, but an 8 week period of abstinence from wanking is kind of pushing it.

Porn can influence someone's attitudes towards sex - to me, there's some forms of porn that are more about shock value than titillation. I also think it's influenced what "the norm" is behind closed doors, but there's a lot of things girls still won't do in real life that they do in porn movies.

But rambo23 mentioned masturbation, but what I read was more about the effects of porn overload and the things you watch having an affect on your sex drive. The easy access to porn has a lot to do with it, and it's a given someone who's under 18 has access to all sorts of porn, that it might influence them to be into things that might not be something a woman would be into or prepared for.

8 week abstinence is ridiculous.

yea i just found it to be an interesting read.

it created a thought child tho, which made me more curious about the chemical reactions in the brain. and if it is possible to have any short/long term damage from prolonged exposure to prolactin with a constant depletion of dopamine from wackin it 24/7. all mental instabilities are just chemical imbalances... are they not?

PLUS in the research i did on prolactin, i found that there have been many studies and tests done on women from excess levels of prolactin, but in males it says excess levels are still pretty much unknown. makes you think.....

i guess this is the wrong place to be asking this question tho, all modern medicine states that masturbation, excess or not, is safe and a natural human function.... but modern medicine also said labotomies cured the mentally instable. then again lobotomies arent a natural bodily function lol. sorry for the awful analogy

i guess i was hoping to see if anyone had read a study or another article on the subject. thanks tho guys. all my questions are answered :D

It's amazing how much you can learn by doing a literature search--the masturbatory habits of men in Zimbabwe, the effect of cyproheptadine on cat masturbation, the effect of smoking on sperm quality. Perhaps not surprisingly, after a short perusal of PubMed, I found an article in the literature which bears on this discussion.

This study states that a period of abstinence from masturbation (or any other method of ejaculation, for that matter) will raise your testosterone levels. (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11760788) (I don't have to tell you that higher testosterone will positively affect your game.) This is an interesting finding but I would have liked it if they had gone a bit further, i.e. which other androgen levels change? how does abstinence affect testicle diameter? This study, for whatever reason, reminded me of that moment in "The Game" when Sweater (I think that was his name), after abstaining from masturbation for a week or so, actually ended up losing his virginity.

From my experience, MBin without porn is alright if done occasionally. If I want to go out that night, I'll do it in the morning so that I can last a little longer in bed that night and don't feel as desperate. Jerkin it right before I go out, however, and I lose the sexual aggressiveness I need to really go for the close when I need to. I'm also way more likely to get AA.

If I jerk it to porn, I pretty much can't get a boner for about 5 days without porn. It's terrible. There is no doubt in my mind that porn is 150% awful to your mental and sexual health.

^^^ Agreed. I too find myself getting hard ons and morning wood if I go a week or two sans porn. There is no doubt in my mind and with a little research one will find many many people claiming likewise.
