Vercetti- Sub Comms Q&A -Body Language, Voice, Presence, Beliefs

    Hey Lads,

As many may know I'm passionate about teaching Sub Communications, I've trained and professionally as an Actor and have been teaching this stuff for a couple of years now. These issues are easier to teach in person but I wanted to offer a free resource to help guys get their questions answered and receive practical tips to impliment immediately.

I've divided Sub Communications into 4 Categories in order to make it easier to teach.

    1. Body Language
This is includes posture and alignment, relaxation, what to do with your hands, eye contact etc

    2. Vocal Quality
Things like tonality, clarity, projection, articulation etc.

    3. Presence and Movement
These are more advanced concepts - I talk about Standing out from the crowd, drawing attention, displaying sexual intent through movement and touch.

    4. Beliefs
What's going on in your head throughout an interaction, limiting beliefs etc.

So feel free to ask any questions on these topics.

    A few rules and guidelines

    1. One question at a time: wait for my reply and then ask another one.
    2. Make sure the question you're going to ask hasn't been answered already in an earlier reply
    3. No question is a stupid question
    4. Be patient, my schedule is pretty crazy at the moment with teaching, acting and project rockstar, so please give me a chance to reply.

that's about it...Let the games begin.

    Cheers for the opportunity V!

I've a few questions - but I'll start off with this:

How can I change what I subcommunicate - when a lot of people pick up my subcommunications as totally different from the reality.

I'll give a few examples - when I'm out with friends at night, in a club - some will say I look really nervous - when I'm not nervous (this is just having a good time with mates - nothing to do with girls at this point). Often saying my shoulders don't look relaxed - even when it's just how I am - mentally, I'm enjoying myself, and not at all feeling anything negative or whatever - but I appear to be projecting that I'm nervous, out of place.

Another example is that when someone cracks a joke at my expense - in good humour, rather than in spite - no matter what reaction I give out - they always seem to act like they need to tell me they're kidding/act as if I'm taking it badly. Most times - it's water off a ducks back, and I couldn't give a monkeys, bit of fun and I'm not remotely offended/upset - yet I seem to be subcommunicating every time that I'm upset or something - as they nearly always apologise/have to say they're kidding - when I know full well they are.

What can I do to change this - as I think this is being reflected in many areas of my social interactions, if people just short of my best friends don't seem to get how I'm actually feeling - so I'd like to try and correct this.

    (hope that makes sense)

Vercetti, thanks for doing this and giving back so much to the forums.

My question is on the topic of vocal quality:
As an actor, do you have any tips/resources regarding improving articulation and changing one's accent for guys whose mother tongue is not english?

What examples do you have for each of these?

Can you recommend any exercises to deepen your voice?

Do you have any tips on how to make your voice more enthusiastic sounding, and instead of monotone? I.E. Not sounding like you are reading off a teleprompter. My voice is naturally somewhat deep, but I fear I come off as sounding bored even when that is not the case.

Also, I'd like to second MiLLo's question. I have similar problems.

Where would you place your hands if you are simply standing there having a normal conversation or waiting? Would be best if you could provide a picture too
