Are Negs outdated?

The word is that negs are outdated, that there is no need for them. I'm not convinced

Why are they outdated? How much has the mystery method evolved? What do ye guys think?

I'm no expert, but in my personal opinion, negs aren't outdated as much as they're misused. I've seen a LOT of posts here with dudes saying they told girls things like, 'Wow, you're fat. How's being fat?',. I don't think it's negging as much as it's negging wrong. An example. I went to the grocery store the other day, and there's a really cute HB/7 there. I start to chat her up (much to the chagrin of the other customers waiting in line) and she mentions that she just got new glasses and how do I like them..an obvious IOI. I told her that while her eyes were really pretty, her glasses were a little bit too wide and made her forehead appear as large as Frankenstein. Now this in itself might have backfired, but because I added the Frankenstein motions (put my arms out rod straight, walked funny, made funny noises and faces) she laughed and appeared outwardly to not take it seriously, but she did take them off a few times and just had that look of, 'Really.....?', which is what you want. A few minutes later, she offered her number to me and hopefully we're going out tomorrow night. I learned (a lot from here) that's it's not only what you say, but how you say it and what lines you need not cross. Negging still works, believe me. Girls want nothing more than to chase for a guy they think is attractive to play as if he's not interested, and negging accomplishes that and builds you up at the same time.

Agree with above. Not outdated, misused. you should never insult a girl about something she could be vulnerable about. The idea of the neg is to get through to people who think "they are all that". That is why they also work so much better on a HB10 who always gets complimented than a hb5. In fact the HB5 will be a more successful pickup (although don't ask me why someone would want to) if you complimented them outright.

Completely wrong. Negs are outdated and are looked down upon in the community. Negs were misused and guys would get into neg mode, alot of people didnt know how to use them or when to use them. Most guys also believed that you had to use them in every set and after your opener to build attraction, when alot of the time negs were not needed. Teasing works better and Mystery method is very outdated. Mystery isnt even taken seriously in the community anymore.

Magic bullets is alot more advanced. Game is always evolving and mystery method is about 8 years old, alot of the concepts of that book have evolved and arent used.

Teasing is COMPLETELY different from negs. Here is the difference:

Teasing is playful joking around to show you're on her level.
While a neg is not a particular tease. Negs basically are to make her feel insecure and want your approval.

That being said, those all completely 2 different things.

Listen....call it what you will, neg'ing and teasing may not necessarily be the "same" thing but they often overlap (think of a Venn Diagram with two circles). The reason Love Systems (and some others) are not using "neg's" anymore isn't because they're outdated (which is probably the funniest yet most ridiculous thing I've ever read), they're not using them because the newer guys often cross the line between negs & insults

As others in the thread have already said negs were both misused and very misunderstood tool.

Neg theroy goes that after you open a girl you 'neg' her as a way to temporary knock her off her high hourse horse and make her feel a little self conscious, it was a good way to refame a super hot girl almost straight off the bat after you open them making sure your frame is stronger then hers and also disqualifying yourself.
This was done by hitting her with a back handed complement of something like "Hey those are nice nails, are they real? ........ oh .........well there nice anyway" or one I came up with and used back in the day "you know you have a very 'other worldly' type of beauty" or even saying things like "eww did you just spit on me"

the main problem was that negs wern't meant for all girls, they worked on the 9s and 10s but using them on 6s and 7s wasn't a good idea and the idea was to only ever use them once, twice at the very most however these were where many guys (to this day) never understood, there would be posts and field reports from guys saying how they negged negged negged over and over then wondered why they called an ass hole and got blown out form girls they were talking to and almost every field report mentioned negging girls who were 6s and 7s.
You had shy girls getting negged, you had girls incesure about their looks getting heavly negged, you had submissive girls getting negged.

As with many things in the game evolving over time Neg theroy has as well, the theroy itself still holds true but the way we disqualify ourselfs now has changed a lot, no more back handed compliments or outright insults to make a girl feel self conscious, now days we use disqualifiers that we can use on any set we open like "You’re fun; too bad you’re not my type.” or "I love women who are tall/short/blonde/Asian/preppy” (something she is not) these are much more playful and shows that you are a challenge which will get her aimming to win you over by getting her to qualify herself to you (if done right and at the right time).

Also this new way of disqualifying has been much easier for guys to understand and take on board and you don't see posts and questions anymore from guys saying how they disqualified themselfs over and over or how non 9s were blowing them out for being ass holes.

I think negs are funny. The idea behind them is basically to point out the humanity in beautiful women. Yet at the same time, you are purposely negging them, thus treating them differently from normal human beings.

Negs are ironically, just another pedestal.

Edit: I ain't some super player, but I think getting a girl to laugh at herself is far better than "negging".
