    Does caffeine increase sex drive?

Lately, I have been drinking a lot of caffeine in order to stay away and study. I have also been noticing that I am thinking more about sex than usually and getting unexpexted erections. Does caffeine increase sex drive?

Caffeine is a competitive adenosine antagonist. It inhibits your parasympathetic nervous system, while stimulating your sympathetic nervous system.

Long story short, it'll make it more difficult to get a hard-on, but it'll make it easier to finish.

It shouldn't increase your sex drive. Any such feelings are psychosomatic effects.

Basically, caffeine does not, nor should it, increase your sex drive.

Are you sure it's the beverage?... Or the (usually) gorgeous ladies in the mini cooper delivering it?

Depends where you are getting your caffeine from, some caffeine products like MONSTER energy drink are made with herbs (which are labeled on the bottle) that do make you horny. But drinking coffee isn't going to make you hornier,so if coffee is the case..it probably your hormones,or diet. Alot of pre-work outs contains shit loads of caffeine so watch out for that.

Caffeine is a Vasoconstrictor, it constricts your blood vessels..increasing blood pressure. As do most chemicals that end in ne
    like cocaine.

    Mini Lesson
Parasympathetic: slows down everything like H.R
Sympathetic speeds up everything like H.R = but the reverse is true only for the digestive system

Sorry, but this is a misleading generalization. I know this isn't a chemistry forum, but I just want to make sure that you and everyone else here remain well-informed. Compounds that end in -ine are either alkaloids or unsaturated hydrocarbons, not necessarily vasoconstrictors. Adenosine, morphine, codeine, histamine, atropine, etc all end in -ine and none of them are vasoconstrictors (All are vasodilators in fact, except atropine in normal doses). For those who have no idea what we're talking about; in simple terms, vasoconstrictors increase your blood pressure, and vasodilators decrease it.

Also, allow me to expand on your last paragraph to make my next one make more sense. The sympathetic nervous system is your body's self-defense mechanism; it is the "fight or flight" response. When stimulated, the sympathetic nervous system increases heart rate, respiratory rate, primes muscle fibers, and dilates peripheral arterioles (i.e. blood rushing to the skin). Conversely, the parasympathetic nervous system has the exact opposite effect, and shunts blood from your periphery to your digestive system (known as the "rest and digest" stage).

So, sympathetic = gas pedal, and parasympathetic = brakes. Here's where it gets funky. The male reproductive organs are controlled by both sympathetic and parasympathetic systems. An mnemonic I've heard is "Point and Shoot". If you can't figure out what that means by now, the parasympathetic side is responsible for erection, and the sympathetic side is responsible for ejaculation. When you cum faster or can't get it up because you're nervous, this is why.

Cocaine and caffeine are stimulants. They both have different effects, and work by completely different mechanisms, but the overall premise is the same. They both inhibit the parasympathetic nervous systen while stimulating the sympathetic. This is where "coke dick" comes from. Can't get it up? You just overpowered an entire signaling mechanism of your body with drugs! Though it's far less likely to happen this way with caffeine, it still can.

P.S. I can't vouch for the effects of any of the herbs in energy drinks. Maybe some make you horny, maybe some don't. I'd look into other theories first though. Another possibility is that drinking an energy drink brings back memories from previous sexual encounters. We'd have no way to know

It doesn't increase sex drive, but i find I will randomly start playing with myself when I'm on a lot of caffeine. Which can be very awkward at the library. Also, it seems to be very easy to get it up.
I have a tendency to over-analyze, over-complicate, and explain things in great detail. So bear with any long-winded messages I have haha.
