Alternative sites to POF and OkCupid?

So I've had some success with these two sites, but I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions on others they've had good luck with (pref. free sites).

i had barely any success with pof or okcupid. i rejoined match last weekend and have had a high number of winks and set up a couple of dates with higher quality girls then i was getting or even seeing on pof at least. My pic is the same on all three sites but my profile is different on match vs pof and okcupid. I tried using some methods I found here to create my pof and okcupid profile and I just don't think it may have worked(maybe because of my age I am 29). Seems all these sites all very area dependent as far as quality and quantity of people. If you're not getting any responses try changing your profile/pic. If you start getting responses but not dates or only fatties I would join a pay site. Paysites also tend to ween out the flakier chicks. I think of it now as paying $15/month to ween out flakes.

Dkopp's right. Switching up your profile/headline/first three lines of your description/whatever shows up in search results on the various sites WILL help increase response rates and views. Don't be afraid to experiment. However, I disagree with the last half of that quote, or at least where it's leading to. Most girls don't NEED to pay for dates or validation. A buddy of mine is on Match, and anecdotally it seems like there's more quality women on PoF then on that paysite at least, but your mileage may vary. I don't deny that the girls paying for an online dating site are less likely to flake than one who set up a profile as a lark on a free site, but remember, these are girls who feel that they need to pay to have access to single guys. Ok, sweeping generalization over with.

Back to the original post topic: If you're still rocking the social networking sites, mySpace and Facebook are totally free, and have more members than any dating sites. I don't personally use them so I can't tell you what to expect or how it's different from a traditional dating site, but there are plenty of posts tailored specifically to those two places.

As far as pay sites, I've heard mixed stuff about Match, but it sounds like that is the winner for pay sites. I've heard terrible stuff about eHarm and Chemistry.com, but haven't tried them.

  5. I just reactivated my old unfinished match.com profile. Searching through photos I think the women on there a way better looking then okcupid and pof.

Are there any links here showing examples of successful match.com profiles like there are for POF?

I've been doing pretty good on Zoosk with a paid membership. Tried match.com, it's pretty crappy now.
