Default Keychain Lecture - Dublin, June 2009

Keychain is a great guy and really knows how to captivate his audience. His speciality is rapid escalation and he gave some interesting points on the matter although a lot of it I found quite hard to grasp.

From shaking a girl's hand to twirling her around you and gently touching her hand; all this and more were things I never really thought too much about but listening to Keychain made me feel it was valuable stuff.

His points on forming an approach habit were interesting and motivational. The ability to approach is like training a muscle, the more you excericse the stronger it gets.

I think the best thing about Keychain was his care for his audience - he made a point of meeting everyone and asking their name and so was very approachable when we had a few drinks later on and even gave me some text-game advice on a daygame #close i did earlier that day on a HB10. Steve, I'll let you know how it pans out on "Shy Girl"!

The bad thing about the talk, no fault of Keychain 's or LS, was the venue. It was a bit noisy at times and probably not the best place when you have staff from the bar coming in and out (and not shutting the door). Otherwise it was a very relaxed place to be.

For €30 it was well well worth it!

Started off, everyone sort of naturally meet and greet for about 15 min or so(maybe it was longer). Keychain came around to everyone individually and spoke with us for a few moments. Hearing him speaking to other lads and then to myself, I felt him to be very charismatic.

After that, the talk began and I remember the very first thing he said which was a quote from Aristotle(which I heard before, but didnt' know who said it) "We are... what we repeatedly do...". This led into speaking of the approach and how doing at least one every day, say for example during lunch break at work, is better than a binge approach at the end of the month or only at the weekend. He went into it way way more than what I've just written here, but thats a point that really hit home for me. Its also something that I knew at the back of my mind, but until it was said, it wasn't fully hit home.

After that, we took a break and then he spoke about Rapid escalation. Again, he spoke fairly in depth on it, but one major point I took from it was "if you haven't already... try and escalate as fast and as hard as you can and see what happens". This was in order to learn how far you can actually push, and should you hit blowout, at least you then begin to have idea of where the boundaries are and that a lot of people don't actually know how far they could have pushed until they do it. Also spoke about laddering compliance and demonstrated with kino .

Probably not relevent but I have to mention anyway because it was hilarious... as he was doing a demonstration on rapid escalation and yanked one of the guys in close to him by his belt, the bouncer had just passed through the room and looked VERY bemused. It was just fantastic

Overall, I have read up on, watched and listened to a lot of material in the past and I thought the talk was excellent. He did a very good job, and it would be great if he came over again sometime!

    - Jalt!

REALLY late commenting in here, but just stumbled across this thread and had to say that it was a great talk and easily worth the price of admission. Keychain (who for some reason reminded me of Mick Hucknall with a sock on his head! ) really knew what he was talking about, how to communicate it, and also how to deal with a very diverse crowd, in terms of both experience and background.

On top of that, he was also a great guy to boot - I had only heard about the community about 3 weeks beforehand and had some serious doubts about the types of people that might be into the whole PUA thing, be they complete weirdos or robotic sleaze-bags... and I couldn't have been more wrong. Everybody was very normal and cool, and Keychain was pretty much the opposite in terms of what I expected; about as un-intimidating as humanly possible, very open and friendly, and entirely non-judgemental. Had I had the money available, I would have been looking for a 1-on-1 the very next day, because the guy really struck me as not only knowing his shit, but also having the all important ability to transfer than knowledge to a very wide range of personalities with little effort as well as being very genuine about helping others and certainly not in it for the money.

Granted I have never been to any talks, bootcamps or seminars by the other guys on here, but I would highly recommend Keychain as a great choice for anybody who is new to the whole community, a little confused/intimidated by the whole thing, and second-guessing whether it is worth the hassle. I can't picture anybody being as good at 'breaking newbies in' to the whole scene as he was.

Footnote: Also remember to bring the whole printout of your 'ticket' if and when you book for the first time. I found out the hard way that only bringing the reference # scribbled on a scrap of paper is a pain in everybody's ass (even if they didn't let on as such)!
