Thumbs up Rokker 1 on 1 - Oslo, Jan 2008

    Hi guys.

For those who aren’t familiar with Rokker , he describes his identity within gaming as ‘Swedish Seduction (with flair of rockstarness)’. This proved to be very true during my 2 days of 1on1 with him.
His identity is strongly influenced by his talent within music and his up-and-coming career as a singer/songwriter and musician, which makes him very congruent with his lifestyle and mindset. And what about the seduction -part, you might think? Well, let’s just say that after having spent two days in his company I can clearly tell that he doesn’t just talk the talk, but also walk the walk…!

Enough said, let’s get down to business…

BACKGROUND AND MOTIVES FOR TAKING A 1ON1:

It would come out rather diffuse trying to describe the events, and not also give some information about myself and my level of experience within gaming before I hooked up with Rokker and HiRoller .
Perhaps some of you reading this can recognize a fragment of me in yourselves.

I’m 31 y.o. and enjoy success in almost every aspect of my life, which also reflects upon my style, behaviour and general point of view. But when it comes to women it’s a whole other story. I tend to get rather introvert and reserved in company of people I don’t know, and in particular those belonging to the female gender. Therefore I previously really haven’t had much success with women in the way it is meant to be from the point of view of a person who produces more testosterone than oestrogen…!

When it comes to gaming, I’m an absolute beginner regarding field experience. Theoretically I’ve been following TMM and the progress of new theories within the same for a year or so. When I say "followed TMM and the progress...”, it has to be understood as from a literary angle. I have pretty much read every piece of literature available and seen all the DVD’s, but a combination of a demanding and time-consuming career and a social circle solely consisting of people in LTRS, I until now have failed to practice all the theory in the field.
So, basically I had only 14 days of field experience before my 1on1 took place.

Having the basic theory nailed, I could no longer postpone my motivation in getting started for real. I figured that I could do so by spending a lot of time learning it by myself, or cut down the period of time considerably by consulting people who really have their game in shape and then some. In other words: I needed some elite guidance for a starter and enlightenment within the field of goal-oriented sarging. Having considered participating in some of the BC's in Europe, I discarded this in advantage for the idea of individualized training . I'm a great believer in the concept of "tailor-made" and personalized training as no two persons are alike.
I made a quick research on the MM instructors and also had a talk with the American HQ, and we concluded that Rokker would be an excellent choice for my purpose. Of course I think all the instructors would be great, but mainly two things stood out:
    1. Rokker is from Scandinavia as well as me, so not only did the logistics come out reasonable, but more importantly he knows the Scandinavian fields and the girls within them. He has great experience with successful sarging all over the world, but he started off in Scandinavia and knows the slight difference between Scandinavian girls/circumstances and non-Scandinavian places.
    2. Not only did I really like his philosophies in seeing the world and our place in it, but his gaming style seemed to reflect what suited me the most. Needless to say that all instructors are highly skilled, but for those of you planning to have an 1on1 I’ll really recommend you to find out which of them who matches your temper and style the most. The broad spectre of gaming style is virtually covered with instructors ranging from very chill and laid back, to hyper energetic. From what I could understand from Rokker himself, he’s on the middle of the tree.

I really wanted to kick-start my initial game, so instead of the more common one day 1on1, I decided to book Rokker for a consecutive two day 1on1 (Friday and Saturday).
This proved to be a very valuable and wise decision.

    PROLOGUE:

With the date and location set, and the financial formalities no longer an issue, I received a mail from Rokker , wanting me to pinpoint my background, goal(s) and sticking-points.
My primary SP’s were as follows:

    - Building a core identity .
    - Approaching /opening and transition.

For some of you guys these may seem as a mere formality getting around in a way that it wouldn’t justify a 1on1.
But for a beginner I personally think these two SP’s are some of the most important. Being an AFC you essentially have to change your whole mindset in order to master these, and as Rokker metaphorically put it: You simply got to have a strong foundation on which you can build a solid and coherent castle.

    DAY 1:

This was finally it. Many days of waiting were over. Filled with a mix of nervousness and excitement, I stood at the Sentralstasjonen in Oslo and observed the seemingly endless stream of people passing by. It’s funny how you change the way of thinking when you’re in gaming-mode and all excited. Then it’s no longer a random group of laughing girls passing by, but a “perfect” three-set consisting of HB x to HB y. Approach goddammit!

I was a bit uncertain what to visually expect from Rokker . When you put the words “Swedish” and “Rockstar” together, you really can’t help thinking of a tall, long-haired blonde guy dressed in a tight leather outfit (huge cleavage and chest hair included of course) with laces and knits, spiced up with a leopard patterned bandana and Ray-Ban Aviators. (Sry Rokker , but I did grow up listening to “Europe”…).

However, I knew from other reviews that this was not the case. And when I finally stood face to face with him, I had to agree with these other guys (not with an inconsiderably amount of relief…).
Even though he is a tall, good-looking guy, the image is far from the one pictured above. With that said, he does have a cool style of clothing, but what was most noticeable was his gaze. It radiated rock-steady confidence mixed up with genuine curiosity, all in all fit for a master PUA.
It was 1 p.m. and the plan was to be heading to a nearby hotel lounge and go through a five hour session with theory and addressing my SP’s.

I have read the most relevant theory many times, but having Rokker explaining them with personal examples and in his own words made it much more clearly and understandable. Hearing him go through the Progression Model and answering my questions, it was very easy to distinguish between a person who just have read the material like me, and one who has it internalized by solid fieldwork. Since we had two days, and not just one ahead of us, there was no need to rush through things and we therefore had the luxury of being able to extensively focus on every question I had and more importantly, my SP’s.
While sitting there, it struck me why he had been “headhunted” by the MM-corporation to become an instructor. Here I was, talking to one of Europe’s, if not World’s, best PUA’s within his field and successfully travelling all over the globe to teach guys to develop a more complete personality and fulfilling life, but despite this there was absolutely no hint of arrogance or lack of understanding for my current situation and low level of game.
You instantly feel comfortable in his company. This is, for my part, a very important factor when it comes to open up yourself and telling a literally complete stranger about your problems of attracting women. He is a cool, chill guy, and it is clear that he actually does have a genuine interest in his students and wants them to succeed. That was my impression, anyway.

After having covered the most crucial theory within my boundaries of needs and made a gaming plan (openers, gambits and so on which to use), we decided to take a couple of hours break in order to relax, eat and dress up for going out in field later. But before that, he had great news.
His friend and soon-to-be instructor, HiRoller , would tag along with us for the weekend, so I suddenly found myself having the privilege of having not just one, but two highly skilled guys following and observing me. The 1on1 had become 2on1 in my advantage.

So, a couple of hours later we met at our rally point at Sentralstasjonen. Here I got introduced to HiRoller .
Once again I found myself facing a confident, good-looking and friendly guy who, however different in style and energy-level compared to Rokker , radiated a strong presence and had the same playful and curious spark in his eyes.
“This can’t possibly go wrong”, I thought with great encouragement in knowing that I had two such capacities alongside.
We walked a bit in order to find a place to start. Here Rokker asked me what I expected of the coming days, which I told him. I returned the question to him, and his answer was very clear: what he expects from every student is that he gives it a 110 % in field and is committed with the same percentage and pay strict attention to what is said.
He also told that he doesn’t give a flying f’*** if the student’s game is amazing or regularly sucks, he will not think neither more or less of you based on that, but he expects that you show you’re willing to learn, change and evolve into improvement.

We decided to go a nearby TGI Friday for a warm-up. At the time we got there, it was already dense with people and seemed to be a perfect place to get in state.
You always read here and there that one of the best ways for improvement of yourself is to be hanging around people more skilled than yourself within the subject of matter. This holds to be true. Just by observing Rokker and HiRoller when they entered the room taught me a valuable lesson. A group 3-4 guys (chodes) entered right before us and the difference in attitude and body language between them and the two instructors was as written in stone. I’ll leave it up to you to figure out which of the two groups coming best out of it.

The place was in two levels and we decided to enter 2.nd floor in hope of finding a table. On our way Rokker spontaneously opened a four-set of girls while HiRoller and I found us a free table. From a distance I observed how Rokker controlled the set. He gave me a sign to come over and then introduced me and continued by showing some attraction games. After a while we returned to HiRoller . They explained what had happened during the interaction and what was important for further notice.

Right after Rokker and I went downstairs to get some beers.
“Look, there’s a good two-set”, Rokker said, pointing out two girls standing at the top of the stairway. I knew what that meant and when we were passing by I opened, while Rokker joined HiRoller at the table. As I was throwing the “Jealous Girlfriend”-opener, I peripherally saw how the two sat and observed us.
My interaction went very mediocre. I opened successfully, even though one of them shit-tested me, which I ignored, and got a decent hook-point. But that was also it, as I never got very far into the attraction phase . I ejected with the standard “Well, nice talking to you”, and joined “my” two instructors. Here I was told what was good and what I should do better. In this case I lost attraction due to not locking in which made me seem lingering and needy. However, I felt good having had my start and also the opportunity to get instant feedback from two pros.

The next thing happening was very interesting. Rokker and I had previously talked about opening sitting sets which, I for one, have some difficulties with. Rokker sat with the back to a table with two cute girls, and made a textbook example on how to open them. While was he was running the set with one of his own openers and transitioning into getting solid attraction , HiRoller explained for me what he was doing and why he did it. After some minutes, Rokker was merging the set making the two girls come over to our table. Here we fluff-talked and both Rokker and HiRoller ran some gambits while trying to include me as good as possible.
As we decided to move on, Rokker and HiRoller numberclosed the two girls and we left.

Our destination was a bar on Aker Brygge, which traditionally belongs to the more high-end area on the scale, having a conservative clientele.
Unfortunately, it was poor with people by the time we arrived, and with guys heavy outnumbering the girls. We found a good place to sit and spotted a good two-set at the bar. Again Rokker gave me a push in the right direction, “suggesting” me that it was approachable. This time I wanted Rokker to wing me. Again I opened with “Jealous Girlfriend”. I instantly got hook-point, and especially one of the girls seemed interested. I couldn’t really see Rokker, but as I had spent some minutes in the attraction phase and seemingly struggled a bit to keep both of them interested, he “incidentally” came by with a “Hey, there you are. We are sitting over here having a good time, so come and join us”. Saved!
I introduced him to the girls and he started talking to the obstacle (he had of course, even though out of my sight, been observing the interaction and exactly knew the nature of it).
After a while he said that they should come with us to our table, to which they agreed. Here both HiRoller and Rokker kept the obstacle busy while I was working on the girl who somehow constantly threw a lot of IOI’s at me.
It all ended with me numberclosing her before we left for another location.
While we were walking they gave me valuable feedback. I.e. this time I did lock in after the opener, but I failed to remember to bounce the set and such on.
It’s really amazing how many things you don’t realize when being out in field, even though having read about them many times.

We headed to a club at Karl Johans gate, but much to our dismay the room was virtually empty. Having already paid the cover charge, we decided to visit a bar next door and then return later on. Here Rokker demonstrated how to open a moving target. I do not really know what he did, but he got some mad attraction and managed to numberclose this very cute girl within 4-5 minutes. He explained to me that it was possible due to microcalibration as he always knows which step in the Progression Model he is being on, depending on the feedback from the girl of interaction, and hence which necessary switches to trigger. This I would also learn in time after gaining more experience, he confidently told me.

We decided to go back the club. Not many people still, but nevertheless a couple of good sets here and there.
After having found a table and some beverage, I suddenly saw a cute blonde ordering at the bar. I went for approach. Rokker went with me. The girl was leaving and suddenly became a moving target. But now I had seen Rokker demonstrate how to open a moving target just minutes before, so I knew how to do it. How convenient.
Again, I used “Jealous Girlfriend”. This girl was somewhat hotter than the other girls I previously had opened, and she seemed a bit sceptical and shit-tested me in the beginning, but being non-reactive and busting her I eventually got a solid hook-point. Seeing his student doing well, Rokker, who purposely had been standing anonymously at the bar talking to the (hot) bartender, went back to join HiRoller , who in the meantime had got back to the table after having opened and attracted two girls at the dancefloor.
However, I locked in and it really went OK with this blonde. Out of nowhere one of her girlfriends appears. Quickly I befriend her and we start stalking. Then another girlfriend arrives. Same procedure, and suddenly I found myself surrounded by three cute girls listening with interest to me throwing some attraction gambits and stories. Enlightened by the previous lesson, I said that they should come with me and meet my friends, which they did.
I must admittedly say that I was filled with joy at that exact moment. Not more than 10 hours before, I had been a total AFC, now I had actually managed to pull a hot three-set to very willingly come and sit with us.
The equation was now very simple; three girls and three guys. I concentrated on the blonde while Rokker and HiRoller were addressing the two other girls respectively.
After a while, Rokker asked me how I wanted to proceed for the rest of the evening, whether I wanted to approach some more sets etc. I was more compelled to try to see how far I could take the interaction with the blonde and in the meantime just having a good time. I told that to Rokker and also “released” them from their duty so they could game on their own.

However, I personally found myself confronting steps in the Progression Model I really hadn’t even hoped to get to this quick, and although this was a valuable lesson; I did not know how to successfully proceed.
This did not bring down my considerable satisfaction of having had successfully overcoming my AA and opening this evening. I felt very confident that opening now really wasn’t the biggest problem anymore and as I finally lay in my bed, I was actually a bit nervous if I could repeat the success next day.
Oh, And Rokker and HiRoller you say? Well, they closed “their” girls back home.

    DAY 2:

We met at the lobby at the hotel Rokker and HiRoller was staying in.
Here we went through the events the previous day. It made me happy to hear that they both thought I had done well. However, my lack of success in closing the blonde, or any of the other girls that night, was heavily due to not kino escalating at all. Rokker did make me aware of my lack of kino when I was with the blonde, but I didn’t manage to escalate at that point. Thus this became a new sticking point for this evening in combination of still getting some experience in opening sets.

We had some hours of theory. Now that they both had seen me in field, we worked on creating my identity plus addressing my new sticking point.

After having had a power nap and making us ready for the night, we met at our rally point at Sentralstasjonen and headed for a bar with a laid back atmosphere for warmup.
We immediately spotted two cute girls sitting at a table suited for 4 persons. Rokker told me to open them. Having previously difficulties with sitting sets, I was somewhat sceptical, but then again I had seen Rokker show how to do it the evening before.
Again, “Jealous Girlfriend” for opener. Logistically I had to move around the table in order to lock myself in at one of the free chairs. After getting a good hook point I started to move around while casually continuing my opener as it was the most natural thing in the world.
As I was rooting, the hottest of them started shit-testing me but acting non-reactive and busting her, I managed to smooth myself into attraction phase . Rokker came over handing me a g&t and I introduced him to the girls. HiRoller came over as well, and we started running some attraction gambits.

This set was never meant to be anything else than a short warm-up set, but they turned out to be some quite cool girls with whom we had a good chemistry, and even though they didn’t really had planned to go out clubbing, it all ended with them insisting to join us for rest of the evening. Rokker asked me if this was OK, which I told him it was. Then he told the girls that they could tag along, but with us being very social guys they shouldn’t really expect us to be hanging with them all the time as we were out to meet new people. Smooth.

We then went to Onkel Donald, which was crowded with people.
To be honest, I really can’t remember how many sets I opened here, but the fantastic thing was that, besides the sets which really couldn’t hear me for the loud music, I successfully opened every set I approached and also got hook point at every one of them. I even got pretty far in the attraction phase with most of them, and especially one of them (actually coming from a sitting five-set… Obviously no problem here anymore ) could have evolved into comfort if I had managed to isolate her like Rokker said I should. New lesson learned.

Again, it was an invaluable asset to have both Rokker and HiRoller along my side, giving me the needed feedback. The amazing thing is that even though you don’t really see them, they are for sure observing you and suddenly appears “out of nothing” to help you out when needed.

A hilarious night ended as it did the night before, with me filled up with a thrilling sensation of success and Rokker and HiRoller closing a girl each back home at the hotel, putting a fantastic weekend to its conclusion!

    DAY 3:

This was the day for departure. However, this did not happen before we had had a good debrief, pinpointing new SP’s and run some rounds of Q&A, making sure that nothing was left in doubt.

    CONCLUSION:

This was simply put a fantastic weekend. Rokker is really a cool and professional guy (as is HiRoller) and after having fully digested all the impressions here a couple of weeks after the 1on1, I can honestly say that it has been one of the best things happening in a long time.
Yes, it costs some money, but personally it’s one of the best investments I’ve ever made. If you are economically well-situated, I can only recommend having a consecutive 2-day 1on1. When imagining taking just a normal 1-day 1on1, I don’t think I would have progressed that fast. It was almost like a mini-BC, I guess (with me never having attended a BC, but the structure is almost the same).

As I said before; having a pro like Rokker along your side focusing all attention on you and your game is invaluable. Sure, you can learn all the things by yourself, but the trial/error rate will also be so much higher, let alone the aspect of time you have to spend.

Another great thing with being with Rokker is that not only you actually get to see how a master execute his game, but he’ll also break it down in small understandable pieces for you, so you can practice it immediately in the next set. This was one of the primary reasons to why I had so much success overcoming my initial SP’s, which I thought was opening and body language .
Just imagine; I spent just two days with Rokker (and HiRoller) being a complete newbie within fielding, and when these two days concluded I had managed to nail opening and transitioning in a way that they now seem fun to do in field!

All in all it worked way beyond my expectations. One of the reasons to this is mainly because I went into it with an open mind and my goals set firm. If you are thinking of taking a 1on1, I think it would be a good idea if you are 100 % clear with your goals and what you want. Then an instructor will become an awesome tool worth all the money paid.

I will set up a new 1on1 with Rokker (and hopefully also HiRoller) in 3 month’s time in order to work within a continuum of learning. I will really be looking forward to this and in the meantime you’ll find me out making field-work, practicing and consolidating all the things I’ve learned, but also trying to “master” the new SP’s we sat for me just before we departed.

Rokker and HiRoller, I’ll see you then with great expectations!

    EPILOGUE:

I almost can’t believe I’m about to write this, but I actually managed to f*-close last Saturday night… Just mere two weeks after my 1on1. I’m not a big fan of using the HB-scale as it’s very, very different on how people use and differentiates it. Anyway, I would rate this girl around an HB7 at my scale.
Generally I’m a modest person when it comes to things that I don’t consider myself mastering to the fullest extent (which, of course aren’t many…! ), but despite this I can easily say that this pull was not done by pure luck. Granted, for some reason she was very into me after having dealt with her initial shit-tests and running the first couple of attraction -gambits (ring-routine and The Cube), making escalating and comfort somewhat a piece of cake really. However, this attraction would NEVER have happened if I hadn’t used the right approach, tonality and body language (body-rocking, push-pull, take-away and such on) I’d learned during my before mentioned 1on1 with Rokker and HiRoller.
Once again I can only conclude the value I got from this session far exceeds the amount of money I paid for it, so far.
