Last saturday I met up with
Rokker for a 1on1 in Stockholm, Sweden. I just heritaged some money and decided that this was a perfect opportunity to do a 1on1 with a MM-instructor. And preferably
Rokker since he is swedish just like me. And that led me to contact Jeremy at
Mystery Method to set up a meet with
Rokker.
--------
Some facts about me:
I am 27 years old and pretty well read about
the game. I found the community three years ago and I started sporadically to read a little on forums. After a serious heartbreak with a girl I was dating in the summer of 2005, I decided to learn as much as I possibly could about
the game. I felt that I really wanted to understand all aspects of game, and in the end get this part of my life handled.
I have to admit that I had somewhat of a bad mindset when I started to plow through every piece of material about game I could find, instead of trying to implement each aspect of
the game mainly by experience. I read everything from
RSD to Zan, and watched countless of hours of
seminars by David D and others. The material I read wasn't really as organized and polished as it is nowadays, so it was kinda harder to filter out what information that was good. I practically bombarded myself with theory, and I became kinda confused even though I felt that
Mystery Method was what spiked my interest the most.
Finally I started applying the concepts I had read about. I first applied them in my social circles and I also made a few cold approaches when I was out partying with my friends. But when I made the decision to completely stop reading the theory and start analyzing my own sets...THAT'S when things started to make more sense. Before that, it was pretty much hit & miss with my sets, just throwing out bits of material that I had read about.
So now I changed my habits a little. I was out in field, analyzed my sets when I came home, and THEN I read up on the theory. This really made quite a difference and things started to click more and more consistently.
Eventually this led me to a few lays from cold approach. Still, I was curious to see a MM-instructor in field in order to actually have something to model my game after. And also to get some professional feedback in my sets.
--------
So as previously stated, I met up with
Rokker last saturday. I had pictured him in my mind to be a 6'5, super peacocked rockstar-type. Other than that, I had read his posts on this forum wich were really good. So with that in mind, I knew that he was a smart guy. And I also had the feeling that he didn't became a MM-instructor by chance. In other words, I had no fear of him not delivering the goods.
We met at Stureplan in Stockholm around 6 PM. My first impression of
Rokker was definitly not anything of what I had expected. Here is this guy that seems to be somewhat younger than me, pretty tall and good looking. I can't see any references to the rockstar-look whatsoever. That said, he still had a cool style of clothing.
We greet eachother and I instantly get the feeling that this is a genuinly friendly and good guy. He has the characteristics of warm
alpha, meaning confident but not arrogant.
Only a few minutes after meeting
Rokker, he makes a cold approach on a girl passing by. He asks for directions to a café, and start busting on her. She responds well, and recommends something. Me and
Rokker take off to get to know eachother.
We walk to Kungstradgarden, a small park not far from Stureplan and start discussing the theory of MM. Also he gets to know what my
sticking points are, and he gives suggestions on how to overcome them. I described my longterm goals, and shortterm goals. Everything is going fine and I get some background about
Rokker and his view on things on the different phases in MM.
When we're done doing that, we take off to go eat something. We keep talking about the theory, and I made sure to ask all the questions I had. I also got to know some more personal details about him and we discuss the community in general.
Rokker is very upfront and open about things. I never get the feeling that there are some things I cannot ask about, or that he is hiding something. I wouldn't have had any problems if he decided to be more formal and not talk about himself. After all, we only knew eachother for about 2 hours. Still, the dialogue is very open and non-formal.
After getting something to eat, we feel that the theory-part is taken care of. We head off to a bar called Vampire Lounge to get some drinks and just have a good time before going out to sarge. We keep talking about
the game, and I come up with more questions that he answers. Now, one might think that we should have been doing street-game or something else like that. But I am primarly interested in learning nightgame, and it was actually my idea to go this bar. It was also good to get know eachother some more, and have more questions answered as they came up. It's not very late(about 9 pm) and the bar is pretty empty, so we decide to go to the club that we're about to sarge in.
The club of my choice is Blue Moon Bar, a nightclub where I spend many weekends.
Rokker thought it was a good idea to choose a club where I felt comfortable, so I could focus more on
the game itself. We are among the first guests in this club as well, so we chill out for a while and let the crowd arrive. Finally it's time for some game!
I watch as
Rokker demonstrates a set. It looks like it progresses well, and he gets back after a while. We do a short breakdown of the set and what he did, and then I do a set. It's a moving set, so it's not very ideal. Still, I hang in there for a while and then we do a short breakdown. My main
SP is escalation, so we discuss that as well.
I keep entering the sets and
Rokker is doing a great job as a
wingman. After every set we do a small breakdown of what I can do different. It's a conscious choice to not get too analytical at this time, since that could make us loose the state.
The evening progresses, and my best set for the night almost gets me a kiss with a HB9. This is actually a personal breakthrough, since I normally do not have that kind of progress with HB9's from cold approach. Unfortunatly when I am about to do the Sexual Prepping(credit CaptainJack) and start going for the makeout, a bartender gets in our face and forces us to leave the couches we were sitting in. Apparantly someone had booked the table by the couches. "#¤%!¤!!!!
This makes HB9's emotional momentum drop, and she wants to find her friends again. Oh well. I decide to not keep gaming this girl. Instead, I choose to do some more sets and use the time I have when I have
Rokker at my disposal.
--------
Around 1.30 pm we leave the venue to do a debrief of the evening and my game. For me it feels very good to know that I am on the right path, and to get feedback from a MM-instructor on those details that can be hard to fix by myself.
We talk about how a realistic level of good game should be, and how consistent the results ought to be if you're good at
the game.
I think that one of the most valuable things with this 1on1 was that I actually got to see a MM-instructor live in field. So now I have a good model of how the sarge actually is supposed to look like. Another priceless thing is obviously to have an instructor have a close look at my game and tell me what details that I can correct.
You're probably wondering wheter
Rokker closed any girl this night out. And from what I saw he didn't. However, this wasn't the purpose of this evening. He would most likely been able to isolate and close a girl if I had wanted him to do that. But it wouldn't really have made any difference to me. I've seen people k-close in clubs before. For me it was more valuable to have him analyze my game and
wing me in the sets. And also to watch him in a few sets.
This in combination with the theory we went through, made this an excellent experience!
--------
It's hard to find anything negative about my 1on1. I think the personal mindset matters a lot, and for me this was a golden opportunity to learn and progress in my game. What might be a problem for
Rokker is that he actually is good looking. For guys that do not yet realize that looks don't matter much for guys(except for being well groomed and to have a cool clothing style), they might get the impression that
Rokker get girls because of his looks.
To me though, this wasn't an issue since I've seen proof and have massive experience to backup the fact that looks does not mean much.
I really recommend a 1on1 with
Rokker to guys that want improve their game!
