I wonder if anyone takes the time to read these...

    Umm... I like women.

When I was a little kid, I played with the girls in the neighborhood, because the boys were scary and did bad/dangerous things (or things I perceived as being bad or dangerous). Girls were safer, and they were more friendly, since they didn't have some fake tough exterior to maintain. By second grade, I was "engaged" to two girls. My first kiss was at age seven or eight by the monkey bars. I'd walk around the playground with a girl on each arm, thinking that was just how life was supposed to be.

Then everything went horribly wrong, as it did for almost every guy on these forums. My self perception got mangled, and I became the awkward, shy kid who got picked on. Girls developed a sense of "value," and mine was low (or at least I thought it was), so I started associating with other "low value" kids. I thought that was my place in the world. I was one of the dorks. My social skills suffered, and my only friends were the nerds. I was a sensitive kid.

I got into computers in high school, which was great, except that it's a horrible way to meet girls. I still considered myself to be low value and "creepy." What's weird is that girls had crushes on me. Here's how bad I was: girls had crushes on me. I knew about the crushes. I thought the girls were insane or that the crushes were somehow random. I had crushes back then, too. The girls I had crushes on didn't even give me the time of day.

During high school, I had one girlfriend for a couple months.

I was single for seven years after that.

After graduating from college, I figured it was time to "grow up." I already had an apartment and a decent savings account. I had the material things that made me independent. Growing up in this case meant working on my lifestyle and personality. I wanted to become someone I would respect more. This meant living in a clean home, wearing grown-up clothes, gaining status in my social circle, and, yes, dating.

My first foray into studying dating, sad to say, was VH1's The Pickup Artist. I had always wished that there was a practical, hands-on guide to all of the subtleties of communication, but I figured no such thing existed. I had heard of "Mystery Method," but had discounted it as snake oil. Here, though, was the answer to my woman problems. There were tens of thousands of resources at my disposal that would teach me all the things I never learned about women, communication, body language, and subtext.

So here we are today. I play with the women in my neighborhood. They're easier to get along with than the men, because they don't always expect to talk "about stuff." We can just talk about nothing and still have a lot of fun. I walk around with a girl on each arm, thinking that that's just how life is supposed to be.
