Welcome to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; a pretty divers place to go out at night. many different scenes for different people ive tried to come up with areas that appeal to me and have hot wome there for you to have soem fun with! id say its a pretty bad ass place to be night life is awesoem with tons of clubs pubs and bars, as well as your late night food spots but ill leave that to you guys to figure out!
edmonton is pretty decent for guy to girl ratio but you can get stuck in places that have more guys than girls. thankfully if you are on whyte and one bar gets dull or "over sauced" LOL you can skip down to the next one cause theres 30 of them. jasper ave is similar but with less of a concentration of venues in such a small area.
This guide is aimed at mostly Edmonton PUA’s and other PUA’s from the great Province of Alberta but really any PUA coming out west making a stop in Edmonton should check out Whyte. Any out of province or country PUAs thinking of heading out here to get a job check this out cause your gonna hev to spend that money somewhere when you are drinking.
might as well be a good place and not a dive!
we got a big demographic of people in edmonton, recently its been boom town cause of the oil industry so you can find all sorts of people all over. young and old albertans love to drink. you can see ages range from 18 to to late 50s or 60s on any given night at any given bars. of course there are bars that attrached younger crowds and older crowds, that should be laid out in the forthcoming document.
So anyways fellas check it out and maybe ill see you out!
Fresno Smooth’s Guide to Edmonton
Whyte Avenue
The Iron Horse – Large club layout located in the old train station on 103 street and 82 avenue the iron horse is a good bar to go to dance and sarge. Although the atmosphere is on the loud side which can be detrimental but the upstairs is quieter. There is a cover charge of 5 dollars on every night they are open. As well as a mandatory coat check. Drinks are on the expensive side for those PUAs who like to drink but the abundance of High quality women makes up for it. Used to be an older crowd but has moved to a wider variety of ages dominated to the 18-26 demographic.
Overall Rating HB9Hired Guns Rating HB9.5 Cook County Saloon – Country bar, on the larger side. 3-5 dollar cover charge. Show up around 9:30 to get in for sure
Overall Rating HB7.5 Side Bar – Nice place to go ultra lounge style, modest dance floor with a good DJ can be packed or empty so roll up with some friends and or girls. This club has 2 levels the upstairs over lookign te dancefloor and lower bar, loft style. the upstairs is somewhat quieter so extract your target there uf you dont run the intial opening there already. drinks are regularly priced around 5 bucks
Overall Rating HB8Hired Guns Rating HB8.5 The Purple Onion – Cheap drinks, if yougo make sure you go for power hour, dollar shots. if your getting pissed go here first then pick anopther bar to go to.
Overall Rating: unknown Hudson’s on Whyte – Medium layout, lots of room to sit, not ultra spacious. Great food, with a good variety of beers on tap. Usually has a longer line up on Fridays and Saturdays. Can be loud at times but not to loud to talk. try the wings on wednesday.
Overall Rating HB8 Hired Guns Rating HB8 Wooly Bullies – Two level bar with a nice patio out back. Music on the loud side, but when it is packed it doesn’t matter to much. Never a cover charge but lineups can be on the longer side. Best days to go are Wednesdays for the 10 cent wings, Thursdays for cheap drinks, and Fridays and Saturdays. Decent sized dance floor with a floor to ceiling mirror, age demographic is 18-24.
Overall Rating HB8.5 Hired Guns Rating HB9 Suite 69 – Small venue holding about 120 people at max. Located directly above Wolly Bullies with more of a lounge setting. Also like wolly bullies the line ups can be long but also avoided before 10 - 10:30. A wide variety of women can be found her ranging in age from young high school girls all the way to Cougars. Expensive drinks. Nice little patio outback that seats about 20 people. Good atmosphere but on the loud side near the door move to the back of the club when you isolate your targets.
Overall Rating HB8 Hired Guns Rating HB9 Strathcona Hotel – Old turn of the century building, medium size lots of room to sit but usually packed on Fridays and Saturdays with punks and skaters 4 pool tables in the north of the room VLTs on the opposite end of the bar. Ages range from 18 to late 40s. Known for its cheap pitchers of “Strat Draft. Not a great place to sarge because of the lower quality of women.
Overall Rating HB5 Elephant and Castle English Pub – Traditional English Style Pub, with good food. Nice patio that is open on sunny days and warm nights. Music is just the right volume to not encroach on your sarging but the concentration is not as high as some other.
Overall rating HB7.5 Blues on Whyte – A Whyte Avenue institution. Like the Strat it is one of the first bars to open on Whyte. Older Crowd, go for the Blues and other live music not the women.
Overall Rating unknown Backroom Vodka bar – Located directly across from Blues on Whyte, the Backroom Vodka Bar is more of a lounge with luxurious leather booths and big couches. The atmosphere is laid back mostly due to the low light from the candles and various wall sconces. Good location for sarging, but can be hit and miss. Some nights are busier than others but if memory serves me correctly Wednesdays were the night that local DJs spin House music. Excellent selection of vodka and a great martini list.Under new management.
Overall Rating HB8Hired Guns Rating HB8 The Funky Buddah – Popular place for the college crowd.
Overall Rating HB8 Monkey Island – Unknown
Overall Rating unknown Stollis Nightclub – Fun place to go, usually doesn’t have a cover charge but can on a busier night, usually no more than 3 dollars. Plenty of HBs to sarge but it is loud everywhere in the club, if you can, extract to the area facing the street.
Overall Rating HB8.5 Hired Guns Rating HB8.5 Savoy – Ultra lounge, unique culinary creations. Expect to wait for food due to the Cocaine use in the kitchen and by the servers.
Overall Rating unknown The Attic – Located directly above Savoy. Recently renovated, with a new bar put in the back near the dance floor and DJ booth. Lots of tables and chairs to sit at and they usually have a movie playing on one of the TVs, not any really good locations to open other than a walkway and the seated areas. Popular club on the weekends with a long line.
Overall Rating HB7.5 Overall Rating HB8 Sapphire Ultra Lounge – A skinny club with an eerie blue light, nice places to sit and a common area to sarge. Expensive drinks, and unique food.
Overall Rating HB8 Hired Guns Rating HB9 Black Dog Freehouse – Actually three bars in one with the best patio in Edmonton. Not your typical girl comes here, the can be glamorous but there are also the suicide girl type of girl with tattoos and piercing.
Main floor –
The Black Dog. Your run of the mill English/Irish pub, stools and a brass rail at the bar, darts in the back corner and tables in the front, easy place to obtain entry but can be very busy at times. Usually good quality and quantity of women and they are friendly, bitch shields are not at Defcon 4 like in a big club.
Basement –
The Underdog. More of a lounge type atmosphere. Couches to sit on and dimly lit great location to build comfort or even begin seduction
2nd Floor –
The Top Dog. Came to be in the spring of 2005. Local DJ spins on a regular basis but can be on the loud side. Like the main floor it has a laid back atmosphere. Rich woods and plush leather booths accentuate this space. North facing French doors flank each side of a gas fireplace and open onto the patio.
Patio –
The Woof Top. Great place to sarge and enjoy a beer under the stars. Tunes from the top dog float out through the doors and the window. Don’t worry about a cool night, propane heaters throw off a lot of heat to keep you going all night.
Overall Rating HB8 .
Overall Hired Guns Rating HB7.5 The Thirsty Turtle – A sports bar of sorts, frequented by lacrosse and Rugby teams. University Crowd. The Turtle boasts a good saturation of targets. But also can be a bit of a cock farm after about 11 O’ Clock. The lines are usually only on Fridays and Saturdays.
Overall Rating HB8.5 Overall Hired Guns Rating HB9 The Urban Lounge – one of Edmonton's premier locations for live music. new bands every week. main nights are Thursday to Saturday
Overall Rating HB7.5 Squires Pub – One of my favorite bars of all time. Great crowd can get roudy at times but everyone is generally friendly. A younger crowd with, mostly 18-22 year olds. Drinks are a reasonable price, Thursdays have long been two for one domestic beer night and on long weekends Sundays there is traditionally a rock-paper-scissors night where your play for drinks. Sarging is easy on the north, east and south side of the bar but is a little noisy near the dance floor on the west side.
Overall Rating HB7.5 Overall Hired Guns Rating HB8.5-9 The Billiard Club – A great place to play pool, very laid back, right upstairs from Squires. The fair is great and the patio out back will have sun for most of the afternoon and early evening. The crowd here is a bit older, mostly young professionals around 25 years old. Plenty of places to sit, mostly huge leather couches but also has bar stools and tables. Can be loud but not enough to strain your hearing. Quality of women here is great, watch out for AMOGS.
Overall Rating HB8.5 Overall Hired Guns Rating HB8.5 Devlin’s – Small and intimate martini bar with a great selections of… you guessed it – martinis. You must be 21 to enter on Friday and Saturdays but if you are younger you can get in on a weeknight when it is slower.
Overall Rating unknown Filthy McNastys – An upstairs pub above a dollar store that neighbors Devlin’s. English influences in this pub, lots of beer on tap and rich woods. Not to loud enough to inhibit sarging. A few pool tables in the back. There is some sleazy metal heads but the variety of girls is surprising, you can find punk skater and glam chicks here. Be sure to check out pint nights on Wednesdays cheap beer but bring 3 bucks for cover.
Overall Rating 7.5 Overall Hired Guns Rating 8 Bar Wild – A bar with a 2 floors and 2 dance floors a few TV walls and multiple bars. Generally a younger crowd, 18 year olds galore, girls here are good looking but often drunker, and less there than other places. Drinks are cheaper here, Cover is 7 dollars and there is a mandatory coat check It isn’t really worth it unless you are there the whole night with a good group of people, not somewhere to go for a solo sarge. Downstairs has a focus on dancing and is quite loud. Upstairs has the feel of a lounge but is still on the loud side.
Overall Rating HB8.5 Overall Hired Guns Rating 9 The One – One of the larger clubs on Whyte. Has a very large dance floor located in the center of the club flanked by a bar on each side. Cover charge is 5 dollars all the time. The Sky bar which looks out onto Whyte is great, and on warm nights they will open the windows(they have garage style windows). Girls here can be a solid 8-8.5 but there can be some ugs aswell.
Overall Rating HB8 Overall Hired Guns Rating 8.5 Obryns Irish Pub – Considered one of the greatest Irish bars in the city. Has a live band weekly. Great Irish style decore downstairs, the upstairs is a great place to build comfort in plush couches and large inviting chairs. Girls are here to have a good time and are easily approachable.
Overall Rating HB8 Overall Hired Guns Rating 8.5 Jasper Avenue and the Down Town area
The Globe Tap House and Grill – One of the most popular clubs on North side of the river. The women are hot and so is the atmosphere. Dance floor is the main focus here but there are many places to converse. Cover charge is 5 dollars and has a mandatory coat check. Be sure to check out the beer, they have 32 different types on tap and 130 plus varieties in the cooler. If you are coming to the globe make sure you come early there can be 60 person line-ups well past 1 O’ Clock.
Overall Rating HB8.5 Overall Hired Guns Rating 9 Fluid Ultra Lounge –
Overall Rating HB8 The Fox – Large bar pool tables up front and in the back as well as in the back central dance floor. They play good music but can be to loud for sarging.
Overall Rating HB7.5 Suede – Older crowd, 25-30 years of age
Overall Rating HB7 The Bank Ultra Lounge - Check the Fashion and Style Forum before entering this converted bank. You must also be 21 years of age to enter. Check out millionair Wednesdays. have heard nothing but good things about this place. great food excellent quality of women. dress to impress.
Overall Rating HB9 Overall Hired Guns Rating 9 Red Star Pub – if your an urban hipster then check this bar out, its artsy fartsy and you can drink stella all night.
Overall Rating HB7.5 Halo – Bar in the basement beside the Red Star Pub. Cover charge of 5 bucks. Girls here are artsy, very hip. Gays and lesbians come here as well as bi-sexuals. Low red light from the ceilings and cool white lights from the bar. Comfy booths near the dance floor but the best one is right off the front door by the coat check. Small dance floor that is usually packed.
Overall Rating HB7.5 Overall Hired Guns Rating 8.5 New City Suburbs - Punk chicks is the name of the game here. there are regular punk and hip hop shows here, check out dub night on wednesdays for cheap beer and drunk Punk Chicks.
Overall Rating unknown Four Rooms – unknown
Overall Rating unknown Rose and Crown Pub – Claims to have Edmonton's finest pub fair. Older crowd
Overall Rating unknown First City – Older professional crowd
Overall Rating: unknown South Side
Union Hall – Edmonton’s biggest rock bar. Upper and lower levels. Rocker chicks and AMOG rockers. Stripper poles on the stage but they usually are occupied by uggs and warpigs. The quality women that do go there are great, but bitch shields will be up. That doesn’t help considering the music is very loud. There will be one dollar shooters at more than one point in the night. Check out T&A Saturdays for
hired guns in lingerie.
Overall Rating HB8.5 Overall Hired Guns Rating 9.5 The New Standard –
Slapped the “new part on it after two years of operation. On the inside they reupholstered the booths, slapped some paint on the place moved the coat room and made a new section on the side of the dance floor. Music is loud here but not loud enough to make it impossible to sarge. Usually full by 11 o clock at night. Cover charge is now 7 dollars and coat check is mandatory and I think it is 3 bucks. Look out for pushy AMOGs violence has been known to happen here.Overall Rating HB9 Overall Hired Guns Rating 10 NO LONGER EXSISTS The Ranch - The bar ment to compete with Cook County and Cowboys as Edmonton's premier country bar. I went on halloween and it was so packed you could barely move, opening was near impossible cause of the loud country music, I two steped for a bit but it was much to crowded to line dance. They played nothing but country and it got annyoing fast, I had never heard 90% of the music, I couldn't get a drink, the bars were so busy but was told that drinks are still expensive, and cover and coat check are the same as the standard was. Havn't been back since, but if you
lovecountry music or you are on a pubcrawl then go, if not steer clear.[/i]
Overall Rating HB9 Overall Hired Guns Rating 10 Hudson’s Canadian Tap House - South – Very similar to Hudson’s on white but bigger. There is now a campus version at the U of A where "scholars" used to be.
Overall Rating HB8 OPM – Located in south Edmonton common. More of a restaurant than a bar but the bar is amazing none the less. Large slate decor, thick slab for a bar. Unique drinks. With lots of exotic alcohol. Come for the
hired guns and the Kung-Pow Chicken.
Overall Rating HB8 Overall Hired Guns Rating 9 Overtime -
Overall Rating HB7.5 The Druid South – Irish Pub, owned by same guy who owns O'byrns on Whyte.
Overall Rating HB7 Joey’s – Home of the 30000 dollar bar. the hottest
hired guns in Edmonton upscaled clientel and mediteranian food
Overall Rating HB9 Overall Hired Guns Rating SHB11 Diamond’s Gentleman’s Club – Edmonton’s premier strip club. Central stage complete with 3 poles and a shower head. 5 bucks to gain entry.
Overall Rating HB9 Overall Hired Guns Rating SHB11 Western End
Dante’s world Bistro - older crowd great quality of women think the same crowd as the bank but 5 years older, same rules apply here as at the bank, Great food
Overall Rating HB9.5 Overall Hired Guns Rating 10 Cowboys Dance Hall – Huge country bar. Huge dance floor in the back part of the bar. Walk further and you will find the pool tables although there is one at the front. Country girls are here to have fun and meet guys, not to mention dance. Line dancing at around 10 o clock, learning them all is a DHV for sure. Music is loud so migrate to the front of the bar to open and sarge near the couches and main bar. Thursday nights are 25 cent drink night.
Overall Rating HB8.5 Overall Hired Guns Rating 10 Fever - one of the biggest clubs in Edmonton bouncers will probably pat you down cause of all the gangs that go here mandatory coat check no sunglasses and no hats alowed at any time. Impossibly loud to sarge unless your in the bathroom with the pushy bathroom guys. cool layout, a beer here costs like 7 bucks for a domestic. if your into asian, black, or spanish girls then go here.Last time I was there I got sick from the base.
Overall Rating HB9 Overall Hired Guns Rating 10 Other venues – The following venues are other venues of lower quality to the above.
H20 Lounge, Pig and Whistle pub, any neighbourhood pub is filled with old people and old warpigs nothing worth sarging. Any bar located around 97th street and north of 100th avenue is a no no for safety concerns.
There it is fellas… my tip is to go to Whyte Avenue, the concentration of bars make it a great place to be. If the night is slow at one bar you can always go to another bar close by. The venues with higher ratings are further away from the main areas, but the quality of women should be abundant enough to keep you there.
Love,
Fresno
