Thumbs up The Sydney Venue Guide

The Sydney Venue Guide
[Disclaimer: be advised this material was written from my own opinions and reviews of the following clubs. Under no circumstances can this information be used for advertising and/or marketing purposes and remains content of Mystery's Forum]
Welcome to Sydney, Australia; vibrant, multi cultural and women waiting for the PUA of their dreams to sweep them off their feet. When most of us…Aussies think of nightlife we know that Melbourne is in actual fact the Nightlife capital and Sydney is in comparison….shit! I agree. But...nightlife IS awesome…you just need to know the little tips and tricks required for sarging in Sydney.
Ok…here we go…the problem with Sydney…too many bloody guys…cricky…its true. Most clubs are over packed with guys and bouncers and doorman are instructed not to let guys in at all after a certain time. Management don’t know how to run clubs from the start and thus causing problems for a lot of guys who are out at late hours.
Basic rule of thumb…to get in to clubs in Sydney you need:
1. to have at least 1 girl per guy when you rock up,
2. to get to the venue early (generally before 9.30-10pm) if your with your mates; and/or
3. to go in individually…one guy at a time…if your in a big group.
This guide is aimed at mostly Sydney PUA’s and other Australian PUA’s who come to Sydney to help them sarge more productively. However, I hope that a lot of international PUA’s are poised to come down under to meet our beautiful women and go…well…down under!!!!!!
Firstly I have demographically split up Sydney venues by location. I have then given each a HB rating. These ratings have been calculated on an average of ratings of the girls, the setup, the ambience (loud music arte poorly etc), the hired guns and of course…the girl to guy ratio. These ratings are not entirely a depiction of the women that go there. The description will give you an idea on location and reason for the rating. Please note the list of “holes down the bottom section…I haven’t bothered giving a description on these venues…they are all crap!!
So with no further ado…welcome to:
Malibu’s Guide to Sydney

Darling Harbour and Cockle Bay

Cargo Lounge – Located upstairs from Cargo Bar and very hard to get in because you have to be a member. However in my opinion it is one of the best clubs in Sydney for sarging. Setout in perfect lounge style, the music isn’t too loud and quality of women…8’s, 9’s and 10’s. After 1am it starts to get loud and packed though. Overall Rating HB9
The Loft – Small to medium sized clubbing set-out. Pretty good ambience and music and sound is not bad for sarging. But the quality of women….oh baby oh baby. Overall Rating HB8
Wallaby Bar – Quality Girls however very small and you get a lot of guys cock blocking. Of course they are no match for a PUA however it will start to get on your nerves. Excellent layout and awesome sounds. Worth checking out. Overall Rating HB8
Pontoon – Great half open air setout, good rnb/hip hop music and plenty of HB’s to fill the fridge! However it is known to cater for a lot of AFC’s. The hired guns aren’t any better. If you can deal with that, it will be a great sarge. Overall Rating HB8
Cargo Bar - Not a bad set-out but when it gets busy it can be a pain in the arse. Play house music and a bit of commercial dance. Lighting is excellent for sarging. Good quality women but they tend to get drunk pretty easily and fools mate is imminent. Overall rating HB7.5
Home Bar – Awesome vibe however home bar is way too small to have a decent night sarging. Nice babes, and the unisex toilets are the bomb if your looking for a quick fools mate. However this venue is more preferred for a warm up sarge and then best to bounce to another venue. Overall Rating HB7.5
Watershed – Girls are young. Set-out is club style and it gets packed. Also plenty of AFC’s. there is a small lounge area at the back corner with pool tables setup for a bit of relaxing if need be. It can be enjoyable for those who like RnB. Overall Rating HB7
Bungalow 8 – This venue open air venue is a similar Cargo Bar. However the main difference is that it is predominately for the after work drinks on a Friday night. That means heaps of stiffs in suits and not many women. Stick to Cargo Bar. Overall Rating HB7
Home Nightclub – Huge venue, catered for about 2000 people. Designed for huge clubbing events. Unfortunately its attributes include loud music, very dark and lots of people on drugs. Some decent quality women but I would say overall not worth sarging. Overall Rating B6
Kings Cross and Eastern Sydney

Hugos Lounge – Hugo’s is in my opinion the best place to sarge and they have the best women. The set out is awesome; music is chill out and the ambience…relaxing. Nothing bad to say about this place at all and it is known for celebrities to pop in and out of here from time to time. Very very hard to get in. Overall Rating HB10
Lady Lux – This place is very similar to Hugos Lounge except it is more a clubbing atmosphere. The crowd is also predominately younger. Overall Rating HB9.5
Cheri Jam – Great venue. Located in the heart of Double Bay also nicknamed “Double Pay. Plenty of HB9’s and 10’s come to this venue. Awesome set-out, the atmosphere is electric. Get there early because it starts to get full by about midnight and starts to become unpleasant. By that time you sound be ready to bounce with one or two of many women you would have sarged. Overall Rating HB9
YU – YU is great for the atmosphere and the women. The size is a little to be desired. It is the best really early or really late in my opinion. So bounce their or bounce from there…but don’t make it the be all and end all of your night. Overall Rating HB9
Dragon Fly – The most over rated club in Sydney. I’ve seen a guy get rejected from this club even though he was in the presence of 4 HB’s. So obviously I haven’t been to this club to comment on its interior design. However with the quality of women that go here…who cares! If you can get in, 10’s all round. Overall Rating HB9
Hugos Pizza Bar – Owned by the same Hugo of Hugos Lounge, the pizza bar is predominately a pizza café/restaurant outside the lounge. However the bar and the small lounge section makes it an excellent sarging venue. Same quality of women as Hugos Lounge. Overall Rating HB8.5
Sapphire Suite – Set-out in a club type atmosphere Sapphire’s can get really busy. Fortunately there is plenty of high quality HB’s to makeup for it. Watch out for the bonehead bouncers; they can get really picky with guys rocking up. Get there early or take some pivots. Overall Rating HB8
Beach Rd Hotel – Heaps of tourist women go here, especially from England. The best night is on a Wednesday night. Gets very busy in the club style room…the other room is more chillout lounge style. Don’t fret though cos there are babes everywhere. Overall Rating HB7.5
Golden Sheaf Hotel – The sheaf is a pub decked out with a beer garden out the back and a bar style setup with pool tables and a stage for a live band. This section usually gets very load so it is very difficult to sarge. The pool tables are set up around the bar and a lot of sets congregate around. Overall Rating HB7.5
The Lodge – Nice little quiet spot just off the main street of Kings Cross. The lodge boasts an excellent setout and fine qualiy women. The environment is set perfectly for sarging however it does have one minor set back which lowers its score…the size. It is way to small to host a target rich environment. It is however good for a quiet drink and relaxing environment for starting off before bouncing elsewhere. Overall Rating HB7.5
Ravesi – Across the road from Sydney’s famous Bondi Beach, Ravesi’s is a great casual bar environment. Excellent in summertime with cool sea breezes flowing through an open air environment. Stunning women however it is let down by its pub like atmosphere when it gets busy and its noise. Very loud when people pack in and hard to sarge with a lot of people bumping past you. Overall Score HB7.5
Bourbon Bar - Bar/Bistro by day at night the bourbon turns into one of the more popular clubs at night in Kings Cross. More mixed sets you will find at this venue. The quality of women are average to good, and the set out of the club can also work to your advantage. Overall Rating HB7
Bondi Hotel – More of a big pub than anything else. I will only go here on last resort. If your in the area. Check it out. The women aren’t too bad and it is always target rich so if you’re here then check it out. Overall Rating B6
CBD-City

Establishment – This venue is seen as the upmarket venue of the city and located in the business centre of Sydney. More common for the older crowd it is busier on a Friday night for after work functions and get togethers. Nice women. Overall Rating HB8.5
Opera Bar – Glamourous vies of Sydney Harbour, the infamous Harbour Bridge and the Opera House, this venue boasts fine qualities. The women are awesome, the vibe is great, and in summer it is the ultimate open air venue. However it does get a bit scattered outside. Targets spread themselves out along the wharf. A PUA will find it hard to centre himself around sets to gain proximity. Overall Rating HB8.5
Zeta Bar – Small venue however it is a high status venue for events and some celebrities. I was there recently for a Frankie Knuckles concert and Ian Thorpe (Australian Star Swimmer) was there with a crowd of 8-1- HB’s. Other than that the place has an excellent vibe and it is awesome as long as it doesn’t get too packed with people. Overall Rating HB8
Cruise Bar – Awesome little funky venue by Sydney Harbour. Opposite to Opera Bar, Cruise is encased in glass windows and behind the bar is wall of changing neon colour backed glass. Quality women and awesome sounds. Overall Rating HB8
Tank Nightclub – Funky nightclub and at the back an awesome lounge setup with chill out music. Heaps of high quality HB’s and the only downside is that a lot of drug users go here…if that’s your go this place is the bomb. If not you will still enjoy it providing you can look past that funky shite. Overall Rating HB8
Bar 333 – Bar 333 is great. Early on it is an awesome lounge/bar that turns into a club like atmosphere later on. Downstairs is set up with pool tables around the bar and upstairs lounges around the outskirts of the room. Plenty of HB’s go here and on a good night it is hard to find a flaw. Overall Rating HB8
Whitehorse - This is a very funky venue. Bar in the middle, tables and stools around the side and a lounge area setup at the back with fancy furniture including huge mirrors and antique ornaments. Located to the south east of the CBD in Surrey Hills you will find plenty of babes to sarge. Overall Rating HB7.5
Marble Bar – A very classy bar located in Sydney’s Hilton Hotel. Very nicely crafted but it is very small. Best used as a start off point before bouncing somewhere else. Overall Rating HB7.5
Arthouse – What used to be one of the best clubs in Sydney has somewhat died down for unknown reasons. Being an old art museum it is still setup like an art musem with fascinating pieces of work around the venue which is now setout in a lounge/club atmosphere. Overall Rating HB7.5
Slip Inn - Popular for tourists, Slip inn is a funky bar. Often gets very busy and loud giving it more of a pub time atmosphere. You will also find sime nice women from time to time and one of its benefits is its close proximity to many other clubs and bars to bounce to as required. Overall Rating HB7
Shellborne – Similar to Slip Inn (actually its across the road!) Shellbourne has three levels each with a different style of music. This also allows different kinds of women to be there based on age and music preference. Downstairs area also has an outdoor section good for isolating. Overall Rating HB7
Jacksons on George – Jacksons is a small joint located in the north of Sydney’s CBD and extremely popular for some bi sexual women who occasionally rock up. The quality of the club setout and music leaves something to desire however a good sarge can be carried through no matter. Overall Rating HB7
Oxford St

Havana Club – This place is cool. It’s the old tantra club in Darlinghurst. Awesome setup with lounges around a central dance floor. There are many high quality women and usually exclusive. Overall Rating HB9.5
Lizard Lounge – Funky bar setup more like a club. It does have the problem of being very small but you can still enjoy an excellent atmosphere. The music is great and the girls are stunning. Its best enjoyed as a kicking off point before bouncing somewhere else in my opinion. Overall Rating HB8
Good Bar – The good bar has plenty of fine quality young girls and they usually travel in large numbers. The guys that go are usually of younger age so amogging is not an issue. Besides everyone there is usually too drugged up to sarge. It has a club setout and the music is a mixture of house and dance. Overall Rating HB8
Ruby Rabbits - Rabbits is a small old school club, which is usually dark, loud but always packed with HB's. Usually very young but they are responsive to GAME Overall Rating HB7.5
UN - Home of the pill poppers. For this reason its not that good to sarge. You can get mixed results and usually can be misleading. Heaps of babes, but fake IOI's all round. Dark and loud the clubbing atmosphere is overpowered by techno and heavy dance music. Overall Rating HB7.5
Fringe Bar – The fringe is a small pub type bar in Paddington. They play smooth house tunes and some 90’s classics, plenty of HB’s come in numbers but so do the AMOG’s….however by about midnight most of them are too drunk anyway so you shouldn’t have any trouble. The music does get loud though. Overall Rating HB7
Rogues - the original doof doof music club in competition with DCM's! Dance upstairs, techno downstairs and babes all round off their heads...can you sarge there? Yeh why not. Overall Rating B6
Western Sydney

Universale - Located on the outskirts of Sydney’s CBD in Leichhardt, the layout and setup of this bar is really good. I like it a lot, however unfortunately the crowd really lets down the potential it has. Many of the girls are not the best quality around and not worthy of gaming. On top of that you get many AFC’s causing trouble and yes I do mean violence if provoked. I don’t suggest going here on a Friday and Saturday night but it is good for a Sunday afternoon or even during the week as a nice comfort building location. Overall Rating B7
The Roxy – Located in Parramatta, geographically the centre of Sydney and 30 mins drive from the city, this venue is split into two parts. First of all the outside area of the club setup with benchs and stools and the club part inside. In the club there is the bar in the middle of the room. On one side is the lounge area, setup with ..you guessed it…lounges and beds with posts! And on the other side of the bar is the dance floor. Nice venue, some nice girls but you will have a similar problem as Universale with trouble being caused by idiot AFC’s if you sarge their girlfriends! Overall Rating HB7
Northern Sydney

Greenwood Hotel – Greenwood is probably the best of Sydney’s outdoor clubbing venues. Setup on top a shopping plaza there are 4 or 5 rooms, most with a bar in each and usually setup to house different genres of music each. The outdoor area is huge and has verandahs around the entire area set up like a courtyard. The women are always quality and always friendly. Excellent venue for sarging. Overall Rating HB8
Other venues – The following venues are other venues of lower quality to the above.
Cave Nightclub, Leichhardt Hotel, Docks Hotel, One World Sport, Three Monkeys, World Bar, Empire Hotel, Soho (part owned with YU), Moulin Rouge, Castle Hill Tavern, Cheers Pub, Metro, Star Bar, Retro
There you have it gents...sydneys guide to clubs. I may continue to make changes to this thread, along with comments and feedback I get. It wouldnt be bad idea for Melbourne and Perth to produce their own whos who list.
Cheers Boys.

Default Additional Locations

Australia Square / Ryans Bar: During the summer months everyone flocks there afterwork (Friday location only!) and it is quite crowded and a fun after-work atmosphere. Centre by the bar and you can meet HB's all night. Obviously, not a winter/cold night place. Ages from 25ish to 40. Great early place to start on Fridays.
Clock Hotel: Surry Hills- Just across from White Horse and down 200 feet. This is another great Sunday location upstairs on the rooftop. 20's & 30's. Have not tried any other day yet, but Sunday during sunny days is golden.
Mars Lounge: Mars Lounge just out of the city centre is a very hip-red lighted environment. Not a large place but a really cool crowd hangs out. If your up for a groovy environment and taking pivots to hang out this is a good location. Straight sargining suggest elsewhere due to limite size.
Burdenkin(sp?) Hotel: Oxford Street The Burdekin is another very large venue of 2-3 floors of dance and lounge atmosphere. Great for 18-28 age group.
Greenwood Hotel North Sydney: Good afterwork crowd on Fridays and another really good Sunday large outdoor/indoor environment. Plus you can go and work 3 diferent areas if needed.
Comments on Malibu's Notes: Malibu is spot on in his assessment, except for 1 small thing which you can't falt him for. If your an "old-man" like me (over 36+ a lot of these venues are pretty loud (Cargo upstairs is very loud for me) and tough to run game in. If your looking for a little quieter venues: Bungalow, Opera House, Hugos are great venues as you are outside. Once again though Malibu good stuff and credos to you!! (We need to meet up one of these days...so you can show an old dog new tricks!)

I've been trying MM material for a couple months now, but this is the first thread that forced me to reply!
Absolutely AWESOME guide -- I was in Sydney last year, (Studied at La Trobe down in Melbourne) and I have to say that the places I went to are spot on!
What are the chances of setting up a Sub-Forum for Regional Venue threads?
Like one each major city that guys are a part of? It would be amazing for traveling in Europe, or even the US.
Thanks again!
Henry
