| | | Hired-gun opener (field tested) Hey guys
Field tested this opener for a hired gun a couple of nights ago.
Was a HB9, a tall girl waitress working at buffalo wild wings, thin body (a model's body), really nice face. The girl was being professional with us all night, just taking our order, not interested at all.
She came back to the table:
Me: "Hey how tall are you?"
HB9: "5'11"
Me: "Ah, you have the height and body of a model, but your face isn't that nice." (spoken with the inflection that I have 'inside information')
HB9: "Oh my god I can't believe you would say that!!"
(HB9 leaves table and jokes that she's going to get the manager to come kick me out)
(I look at my buddy and say 'just wait')
(45 seconds later she comes back to the table and starts trying to qualify herself for the next five minutes, talking about how a lot of guys tell her she's beautiful, how she used to model some, etc. She really opened up and she kept trying to joke with me.)
Later on I used an opinion opener on her just to act like I cared what she thought, and then at the end I gave her my phone and told her to put her number in. She was almost taken aback that i wanted her number and was MORE than glad to give it to me. It's almost like she felt like honored to give me her number after I nailed her earlier with the neg.
Anyway, that opener was field tested, and worked *flawlessly*, exactly as TMM would predict. I was stunned that it worked so well. I heard someone say once about TMM "this shit should be illegal cause it's so gold" and that's totally correct. You guys are gold. |

| | | Okay, so you negged the target, and got a number. So what? What happened after that?

| | | I've had guys tell me that I'm a "butterface." That sort of thing turns me off instantly. I would not only not go back to qualify myself if that had been me, but I would have been mentally throwing negative insults at the guy and/or his group, too.
Just my two cents. Obviously it works with some women. *shrug*

Just my two cents. Obviously it works with some women. *shrug* | Maybe because it's you have low selfesteem and know that you are secretly a butterface? |

It's not worth any time or attention. People who feel they need to throw insults at someone else have low self-esteem themselves. They are calling attention to someone else's "flaws" so that someone else might not see something wrong with THEM.
I am 100% happy with who I am. If someone else has something negative to say, that's their problem, not mine, and I feel no need to deal with their problems.

I would of course tailor that to the situation assuming that this was said to me in person. (Is the guy shorter than me? Or ask him to specify, maybe he likes girls under 5 feet tall?)
I personally take much better to non-insults, which, obviously, would get (from me), the type of reaction you were looking for.

Just some outside constructive criticism. | Ummmm... I was taking it not personally, but as a generalization. If someone called me a butterface, the reason why I would not give this person the time of day is because it's an insult, not just a neg. I would react the same way if someone called me stupid. Still not a good way to pick me up. I liked the short/tall example much better. THAT would actually work on me as a neg as a PUA might intend.
In short (no pun intended!): I was very surprised that the HB in the original post reacted so well to the insult of her face "not being that nice." I know *I* would not have been so nice.
