I bartended in Washington DC for awhile. While it has its benefits, it also has its drawbacks. Yes, you can make some good $$, especially in big cities. Yes, you will get some numbers. You will also get to watch people and see how they interact, what works, and what doesn't. I also picked-up on a lot of body language. You learn to flirt to get better tips. You also learn about the whole nightlife scene from bouncers, doormen, bartenders, bar managers, promoters, and owners which is helpful for a PUA that frequents the nightclubs/bars. Knowing the tricks of the trade, it is easier to get past the velvet ropes, procure a drink at the bar, DHV, etc.
Now the drawbacks are:
1) The only time you really have any time for conversation is early in the night (unless it is slow). For me, once it hit 11:30PM, I was "in the weeds" (ie. swamped) until around 2AM. Even at the end of the night you are busy closing out tabs, cleaning, then counting your register.
2) Women will flirt with you, "the hired gun", to game you for comped drinks. Some club rats know that you are given a comp tab to give out free drinks during the night. They will flirt and try to game you when their only intention is to get a free drink. They start to become easy to pick out.
3) You are stuck behind the bar. Not much
kino you can do from behind there and you aren't able to bounce.
4) Your weekends are tied up. You will be sleeping in late so even your weekend days start to become shot.
I can give you more pros vs. cons. Private message me or post another forum message if you have any more questions.
