Bartender/Waitress forgot my drink

So, I just got back from the club. At this place, bartender women roam around and ask people for drink orders and stuff. Bartender/waitress type. My waitress tonight happens to be a beautiful brunette HB9.

I order a drink and she totally forgets to bring it. I see her talking to some people etc. For a minute or two I talk to my friends, but after about 5 minutes I walk over to the bar.

I feel someone grab my arm as I order a beer, and its the waitress:

HB: "oh my god, I totally spaced out on your beer!"
blueline: "that's alright."
HB: "here, let me get this one".
She produces cash, and pays for my drink. We talk for a sec and exchange names but thats it...

It kinda took me by surprise, because I didn't think she would remember. In retrospect, I wish i had used a line like "If you forget again we're broken up and I'll want my CD's back"... but I had nothing at the time.

The "broken up" line would have been good. Your best bet is to go back to the bar and try to get the same waitress. When you order your drink don't mention anything about "not forgetting it this time"...but when she brings it back to you in a timely manner offer to buy her a shot as repayment for her buying your beer last time. That'll jog her memory and get the ball rolling with conversation.

- just my 2 cents, as a cocktail waitress of course...but it should work. The guys will probably have better tactics.

You handled it perfectly. Restaurant people have nightmares about losing orders - it's the ultimate fuck-up. You established yourself as a cool guy by not busting on her for it. When you go back, you'll have tons of social proof from her, but only if you don't mention what happened.

handled it smoothly but would have been better if you had a nicer opener and something more substantial than fluff.
