Hitting on a Waitress at a Bar

Just so everyone know...I'm relatively new to the PU game. This is the first time I've hit a bar with knowledge of the game

Friday night:

My friends (2 girls, 1 guy and me) and I went to a bar lounge in NYC. Judging from the looks of it, I was pretty sure that we were the youngest one there. Everywhere I looked, there were about 3 guys hitting on one girl. I figured, okay, I'm not really all that great to dismantle the AMOG of anyone yet, so I'm just going to enjoy the night with my friends. The night was fun and going great and the best part about it was that our table was next to the bar so my friends and I heard all the guys trying to pick up girls. My friend (who's also into the game) and I were laughing at the way the guys were gaming. Everyone dressed to impress but their game were AFC level. Now, normally, I'm not one to talk because I haven't gamed anyone all night but that's more because there were guys older than me and they were all drunk. I wasn't in the mood to get into a fight.

At the end of the night however, the place was beginning to empty out. That's when I made my move. My friends ordered a couple of cocktails but we got the wrong drinks. I went up to the waitress and told her about this. but before she went to take it away, I began negging her about being a waitress and not knowing what drinks are what. I knew she was taken back by this because I overheard guys all hitting on her and complimenting her. She wasn't used to guys talking down to her. After some small chit-chat, we played the 5 questions game. If she wins, I'll buy her a drink. If I win, we get the drinks for free and she'll take a round with me. I was onto the 4th question when she got called away to do something. That sucked

By the time she came back, my friends wanted to leave. Now, I've read somewhere (either in TMM or The Game) that you shouldn't wait for the girl to come back to you. You don't want to be an "option" for her. I waited for her to come back once and then we stroke up some random conversation. I esculated a lot of kino throughout the conversation. Of course, since my friends wanted to leave, I told her how I wished we could continue this conversation some other time. She told me her name and how I should come back next time. Since I was in a rush, I asked her for her phone number and she gave me a shit test. She told me her cell phone is broken (uh huh) but that I should go back to see her next time. We bid farewell and she gave me a hug before we left. I think it went alright for a first time at a bar scene for me.

This is a long read yes, but I want to know...what could I've done differently to get a K-close or a #-close when I had to leave? What would you guys have done?

Dude, I hate to break this to ya, but you were probably getting "gamed," not the other way around. I don't mean this to be too harsh, but waitresses get more practice in one shift dealing with guys hitting on them than the average aspiring PUA gets practice hitting on waitresses in a month. She's interested in you coming back as a customer, but that's all.

Don't waste time with hired guns before understanding that it requires a different level of skill, as they are harder targets.

You get props for trying, but you should also be reading much more in the Hired Guns Forum (where this post has been moved) before running game on waitresses.

You weren't negging her, I viewed what you did as a slight insult. Also, she wasn't shit-testing you. She did not want you to have her number.

As a cocktail waitress I can tell you one thing for sure:

Based on her behavior, it she was just trying to get a bigger tip. Your comments about her not being able to perform her job properly may have been a bit off-putting as quite often we simply bring what the bartender gives us. I'm not sure what your drinks were, but it may not have been her fault. And you gave her shit for it.

Also, she didn't want to give you her number. Being a waitress and having men ask for our phone numbers is very awkward. We don't want to be rude because then the guy may not tip as well and they may not come back, but we don't want to give them our number because...really...we are working and not looking for love.

Your best bet is to go back. I'm WAY more comfortable with my regulars than a one-time-only customer.
