So I had a revelation on my last two interactions with
hired guns. Both were workin' in retail, one at a shoe store the other at TJ Max.
The first one at the shoe store I used a direct opener I saw on a youtube video.
Me: Excuse me, can I ask a quick question? I don't have a lot of time b/c I need to meet up wit my friends.
Her: Okay
Me: So I'm going out approaching in the field and I need your opinion. Should I approach directly or indirectly?
Her: Indirectly
Me: Okay. do you know where the nearest starbucks is?
Her: Giggle, Giggle, Giggle
And I went off from there.
It worked and I was able to transition well. I even shook her hand and made her twirl. She giggled at that.
But now that I reflect on it, when I "transitioned," she wasn't exactly holding up her end of the conversation.
Was she giggling just to be nice or b/c she doesn't want to be rude to a customer (possibly in front of her fellow co-workers or in front of her manager/boss?)
The other girl at the TJ max store I noticed was arranging shoes near me and my chick friend (who made me social proof).
I thought her hanging around us a little long was an approach invitation.
My friend then said: "C'mon, you need to help me by some sexy underwear"
I then said loud enough for the hired gun to hear: What would I know about buying underwear? We should get another female opinion.
I went up to the Hired Gun and said "Wanna help us buy some sexy underwear?"
She laughed at that. I ended up going with my friend and away from the hired gun.
We discussed what happened and she was telling me she was just laughing just to be nice and b/c it was her first day.
And thoughts on this? Was she laughing just to be nice?
