pretty good advice you get here people. I don't need to field test this as I am a bartender and know this to be true. What Truestory didn't mention is that it takes alot of time to get there.

But I have a little short cut.

Bars are always looking for extra's. The jobs are pretty crappy, the pay isn't much but you get in direct contact with the crew and as Truestory is right, Crews are Thight! so once your in, your in.

Oh and as for the after parties, not all of them will have coke and drugs, (most will though) but all of them will be wild and before stepping in you have to be sure that you can handle it. If it there is drugs, never mention it afterwards, and never ask about it when there is another party, don't look to eager to do it. Its just like when dealing with a hb, play it cool. nobody like eager people

i actually did some of these things a long time ago. i stopped by this night club on a wednesday about 4 months after it opened (the hype really started to go down)
showed up with a few pivots, and it was dead enough for me to introduce them to the bouncers and get some flirting going between them... i got word that the manager used to be a bartender for years and was trying to come up with shots that were the new club's "speacialty drink" (and name them after the club of course) So i get a bartender to call him over and manage to talk him into making me and my pivots the test-subjects for the shots. You could tell he liked the fact that i didn't mind paying for every shot he made. He saw it as money HERE and NOW, i saw it as a long term investment
After i deeply complimented him on every shot he poured and had a lil insight about what i liked and didn't like about each one (perhaps too fruity or too harsh), i pointed out the one i liked best, the pivots agreed, and sure enough it's still being used.
I get VIP there dirt cheap now, greeted with a hug at the door (awwww, how sweet, no a brotherly hug damnit!) by the bouncers and the managers when i see 'em inside, bartenders charge me for MAYBE every other drink... And i get introduced to all the right people
i've always been a bit of a natural at networking and what not, but i'm far from amazing. Wish some of the clubs out here had promoters. oh well.
