 Befriending club owners/bartenders
I've read just about all of True Story's posts on making friends, and a lot of other fellow members tips and advice, however it seems that a lot of this advice doesnt apply to me as well as it does to others.
Most of you who've already read my other posts know I'm 20 going on 21 in march, black(very hip hop, R&B, all taht stuff- Oriented)
HERE are the clubs and a rough description of them in my college town.
Legends: rather low class hip hop joint, pretty large. Does a small amount of promoting via flyers and facebook ads. Sometimes less hip hop oriented for more of the white, country types in our town(its pretty mixed where I goto college) depending on the nights theme
Jackson's: Almost exclusively Hip hop oriented, smaller and even lower class than Legends. This place looks like an emptied bunker thats been furnished.
The also do a Liiiiiittle bit of promoting, but not much.
Oasis: Now this is probably the prestige club in our college town. Much nicer venue, usually has cover charges. Does a SHITLOAD of flyer and Facebook promoting. Has lots of theme nights. Everywhere you go you're gunna see a flyer on the ground or on some random table. Dress code, and bouncers.. The whole nine. Mostly R&B oriented. Some hip hop as well..
Rude rudy's: No offense. This is the red neck joint. Collard shirts only, and no sagging or overly sized clothing. Country music, TINY bit of hip hop. Mostly white people in tight polo's go here. Not much promotion at all.
My question is... As a Sophomore, with a very tight night social group, a crap load of extra money for on hand(I have tourrettes, and luckily for me a Vocational rehab clinic just came through for me and awarded me like 5k extra money fo the semester that I have no use for)
So far my only plan is this: Walk up to club promoter passing out flyers.
Me: Hey, lemme get like 25 of those flyers. Is there a number I Can reach yaw at for party details and other information
or
Me: I was looking to host a party for a friends birthday, is there any information I can get to blah blah blah....
other than that.. I'm shot...
What do I say to bouncers, bartenders, security guards, owners, random promoters(which are pretty much just groups on facebook, or people passing flyers)
Some of the advice I get is kinda vague.. How exactly do I "Get to Know" a owner or promoter or get them interested in giving me hook-ups for bringing people to their parties/clubs?
