Conveying value and taking charge in 'professional' group settings So a couple days ago I was sitting around with about 7 work colleagues (all of the same 'rank' as me, as we all started at the same time) during lunch. Just for fun, we started to play this trivia game where we went around in a circle, with each person giving out their answers to the question.
My problem was that it seemed like people would skip over me a lot and move on to other people in the group, which suggested to me I had some status problems in the group. Certain people, on the other hand, were never skipped over.
The other factor was there was this hot girl in our group, and so seeing that kind of DLV for me was obviously not a good thing.
So my question is: what sorts of things can I do to take greater charge of this group of colleagues and become the dominant, "high status" person within it? |
