It's been a month, but I thought I'd chime in... I have a LOT of experience in this arena: I've been living down in Odessa, Ukraine for two years now and started out with knowing no Russian whatsoever. I had my first kiss close with a Russian (not Ukrainian) girl who didn't speak a word of English within my first two weeks. I've had about 5 months (non-consecutive) out of two years with a different girl for every night of the week. I've had 3 girlfriends who spoke NO english whatsoever (communicate by dictionary). I have the highest pickup percentage from the online personals of any english-only speaker I've ever heard of. I currently have an open relationship with my Russian girlfriend - and about 4 regular FBs. I am also starting an e-book on meeting and picking up russian women and with an mPUA friend of mine (one of

First of all, I think your odds in St. Pete's are actually quite high for finding a girl who speaks (some) English. I frequently get St. Pete girls on vacation here in Odessa and 85% speak English. Although its been stated before, I cannot tell you how important it is to learn Russian. Take an intensive course for a month and your payoff will be beyond measure. Beyond that, here are some helpful tips.
--Points of note--
1: vodka is your friend (as long as its not you who's drinking it) - and as long as not too much of it is consumed by the set. Russians can handle their liquor (and it improves their english) to a point, but then they go English and start wanting to fight and stuff.
2: Body language is EVERYTHING... when you can't speak the language, your body is your ONLY tool for communication.
3: Dictionaries ARE your friend. Go buy the little blue Oxford 100,000 word pocket dictionary. It will let you communicate a little bit, it will also give you great
kino opportunities and busting opportunities. Rub their hands as they look up a word, make a joke about their inability to use the dictionary. Its gold - especially when you find a translation that either makes a joke or intense compliment or neg.
4: Negs work, some people think they don't here. But they are difficult to do properly because the language frequently doesn't translate properly.

Direct game is a key - show no fear. That is what girls are used to. Russian guys 99% just grab a girl and caveman her. My friend is a pickup king, big , fat and not overly attractive, but he speaks russian and is an approach machine. Very typical phrase: "Davai poznakomstva." (Rough translation: We should get to know each other)
6: Play up the fact that you're foreign... especially if you're from a big city, LA, NY, London, etc... every girl and almost every PERSON I have ever mentioned the fact that I'm from LA to goes, "Oooooohhh!"
7: Beware the boys. I constantly get accidentally cock-blocked by guys, not because they don't want me to set up with the girls, but because the guys want me for themselves... not sexually, just to talk with and hear about foreign places. They also insist on the vodka which can make you forget about the girls... :-(
8: Look like you have money. It makes no difference if you have money or not... everyone assumes you do as soon as they hear you are foreign. But if your clothes don't match that (false?) conclusion you're viewed as uncultured because dress is SO important to them. Even poor singles spend 85% of their meager income on clothing. More here than anywhere else in the world - the clothes make the man.
9: Subways are good, but cars are better... pickup hitchhikers. Takes girls on a date in a car, they'll soon be in your bed.
10: Use the personals. love.mail.ru Its free and there is a nearly limitless supply of girls. I used the personals and
www.online-translator.com to learn russian. I kept translating the same phrases over and over using the site until I realized what they meant. After about 6 months, I could recognize about 60% of what was written to me onsite.
