Is needing a ride a DLV?
Like many many people in New York City I don't have a car; it's just inconvenient and unnessacary to my life here.
When visiting a girl in an almost rural suburb, I took a taxi from the bus stop, and she was calling me asking if I got lost and where am I.
In the morning her sister was,as I expected, more than happy to give me a lift into town with her on her drive to work. The night before, however, the girl was like "my sister's not a taxi driver".
So it occured to me that needing rides and stuff is probably a DLV and when I'm here in the city knowing my way around and taking her everywhere, metro card in hand swping her through the turn style, its a DHV.
Am I reading too much into this or should I stay away from that situation in the future?

I think you're reading into it too much, but it's still a valid concern. People in general make assumptions about people who can't get themselves around (even though you can, just don't need to), it comes across that way. Remember, perception is reality.
I wouldn't think of life in terms of "DLV" and "DHV" though, that makes your life one big equation where you're constantly losing or winning points. You do really wanna live like that?

I totally agree with Hollywood here.
And on the flip side, I was texting with this girl last night (shes 19, I'm 18) and she said she doesn't date anyone who doesn't have a car. I read this as a shit test, so I gave her shit about that, etc. My point however, is that I think it really depends on: where you are, how old you are, and what you do for a living.
In New York, where it's easier to take a taxi or the bus... I don't see why ANY woman would have a problem with it like that.
Just don't worry about it too much, if she gives you any more hassle over it, treat it like a shit test. IMO.

You're spending the time to go out of the way to her place, and a lot of people who live in NYC don't have a drivers license. Go outside of NYC and they treat you like you're disabled. Some people take driver's ed, pass the test, but never drive.
My mom lives blocks from a train stop on Long Island that makes a stop there 3 times a day, and the buses don't run on Sunday. I don't always rent a car when I visit, depending on how long I'm staying.
She lives in the burbs (or the country). You live in the greatest city in the world. And have more money because you're not paying for a car or insurance.
That's the trade off if you're going to visit her out in the boonies, and ask her how cool the 4th of Jul fireworks are in her neighborhood compared to what they throw in NYC.
Hopefully you gave a few bucks gas money to her sister or bought her a coffee.
Another thought is that she's not liking you and her sister in the car alone...

It is a fact though that some chicks won't date a guy who doesn't have a ride. It's part of their shopping list.

It's all in how you frame it.
You are in control of the frame. It's stupid to have a car in NYC unless you're a millionaire. Once this girl grasps this very basic concept, you should be good to go.
I personally haven't had a car in two years, and I live in a city much less impressive than NY. For the most part, for errands and stuff, I dislike driving. Also I play the environmentalist card, although i do actually believe in protecting the environment, I practice what I preach making my image consistent. I've been getting laid much more regularly since I haven't had it. Go figure.
Basically it's all how you frame it. What "dates" can you take her on out in the sticks anyway? You live in one of the most exciting cities in the world, make her come to you.
