So as I was driving I saw this cute girl walking by the sidewalk. As I caught a quick glimpse of her face, she look like the exact same girl I use to work with when I was younger. So I drove up, and yelled her name. Hoping it was her and not some random stranger. Lucky for me it was. She turned her head, then quickly smiled and came up to me asking a million questions per second...

"OMG what are you doing here?"
"What you been up to?"
blah blah blah

Even though it wasn't that far from her job, I still offered to give her a ride and she was like sure. We had a quick convo, shes now 18, have her own apartment and she wanted to give me her number(before I had a chance to ask for it)and supposedly wanted to hangout. She also said that if I was bored and had nothing else better to do, is to just come up and see her. I smiled and was like sure, maybe. Now I called her as soon as she gave me her number so she knew my number. I waited the next day to call her which was in the afternoon and I got her voicemail. So I did the, "I'm going to be in and out all day but catch me if you can. Bye" Before that I did a playful neg about her voice message.

We were both just friends but I want to try to escalate it. If it was a random girl, I would have a better idea on what to do but I'm a little confused in this situation. Help.

Heres the problem. She is cute and I was pretty confidant that she wanted me to ask her out. But I cannot get in touch with through calling her. Today I tried texting and I got a response. After a few messages that we traded with each other, I found out that the last time she had any fun was a year ago! I teased her about it and said she was way overdue. I then mentioned that I was planning on going to the zoo and she could tag along if she wanted. She was like OK and asked what time.

I asked if she could be ready by 3ish..she responded with, "Well, I might have the kids but I'm not sure so just txt me later". I text her around 3:20 while I was day sarging and asked, "You coming with me?" and never got a response back.

Did I do something to fuck it up or she just simply changed her mind?

Even if I still had a chance, how can I get in touch with her because texting can only get me so far.

Wait, she is your age (early 20s) and has multiple kids?? Maybe I misread that.

Anyway, I wish someone could explain why girls pull crap like this... I have gotten it too where girl says "call me", etc... and then flakes. I think you were better to decide on a time.

Did you end up going to the zoo? Hope you went and you didn't just say it as a "date" plan.. because, now next time you talk to her you can tell her all about it and she knows you are congruent with the kind of guy that goes out and does stuff.

I didn't really go to the zoo by myself. My plan is the next time I talked to her or if I ever do, to just make it up where I ran into a good friend that I haven't seen since highschool and tell her she is a lawyer now and doing well for herself. So pretty much implied that she took her place and we both had a great time and pretty much set up the frame, "This could've been you..". I'll just wait a few days and try to call her and if I still can't get a hold of her then I just move on. Either that or take her up on her offer and see her at her job and flirt with her that way. Thanks to everyone who replied anyway. Much appreciated
