Restaurant game
I am a server at a restaurant, trying to make tips like every other server out there. Much like girls in a bar or wherever, these people want to be approached and if i play my cards right, i can get MAX tip out of them.
This is a metaphor to HB's in a bar.
This is what i have structured and normally say to my guests, please post any helpful hits or criticisms about my Opening speech.
Me - Hey Guy, how is it going.
Them - Good,, bad,, awesome you,, Great,, ETC
Me - Answer their remark or Im Great thanks. My name is Kevin and I am going to be your server tonight. If you happen to forget my name, don't be embarrassed, just be smart and read my Name Tag, that's why its there. Before i take your drink orders, i would like to tell you about some specials we have going on today. Our soup of the day is...... Our Drink of the day is .... and if your into Seafood, our catch of the day is ...... But before we jump the gun, what can i get you guys to drink?
let me know what you think. thnx.

so are you asking if this is good to use on customers and the ladies at a bar? i think its good that you are playful cause if you get a girl to smile or even laugh in the first few seconds of the approach she will give you a large amount of feedback so as long as you keep the ball rolling you should be good

I dont just mean approaching ladies and bar though, this applies to every customer i am seated. Whether it is men or women, i don't feel gay about trying to make them like me the best i can.
I am asking if the whole spheel i wrote out could be tweeked to be better

First off I have no experience serving or bar tending, but I do have experience with tipping servers and bar tenders, and I don't think that what is said in the first minute or two of being seated has much of a positive impact of whether I am going to leave a good, 15% or bad tip. Generally I leave a good tip if the server is quick with the refills, is polite, not too bothersome, and if the food is well prepared(which I know the server doesn't control, but it is the way it is.) So basically, I wouldn't concern myself too much with the opening.

Thanks Chazz,
I follow a tight schedual after this opening which i am discussing, but i am concerned (in this thread) with getting down a Tight intro which will give people a good impression of me, including a few quick jokes but still strictly buisness.
Very understandable that the intro is not what determines the tip. Very understandable.
But i am looking to perfecting this whole game of being a server and getting max tips. I am very educated with all this fun attraction stuff from tons of books, forums and etc. my concern though is what i said above. perfect the game of being a server vs customers.
any tips on what i wrote in the first post, comments, tips, concerns, criticisms?

As a server myself, I use this line
Me: Would you like a couple shots of whiskey?
Girls at table: Haha no
Me: (Sigh loudly) You know, this isn't going to work out between us, we are just two different people
Definitely gets fun loving girls in good state, I usually follow up with a question for them not related to being a server.
Most people don't expects stuff like that in the restaurant server script.

hello everyone,
Well, I think this sounds both friendly and professional--------but a few tips for you. I would tone down the remark about "being smart and read my name tag"; try maybe "I am wearing my name tag to help you, if you forget my name". I feel that is a bit less cheeky or antagonistic, depends on the crowd too----I guess.
I also find that as a customer or patron, I may need a bit more time to chill and look at the menu-----so mention that if they need more time, you will come back shortly. Does that make sense, just a bit softer approach ya know?
great tea..... oolong tea
