The second OAP that everybody should receive is Issue 2 regarding opening sets.
I haven't read my regular OAPs in ages... I was surprised to find out this issue tells you exactly what you need to do to open successfully... for free. Supplement this with the
Venusian Arts Handbook or Volume 1 of the
Interview Series and you will be an approach monster in no time... provided you're doing the
Mystery Method Newbie Drill and doing as many approaches as possible.
The Advanced Section of this particular OAP is interesting to me. It talks about proximity, approach invitations, mixed sets, and entering a set that's already been opened by another guy and blowing him out. Specifically, myself and my wingman have been watching other guys in the field carefully, trying to determine whether they're doing "cold approaches" and seeing if they know the group or not. But, we're having difficulty deciding sometimes. Any hints? Although I'm competent in the approach, I have missed many opportunities to talk to groups where a dude opened just before I reached them.
Here's the dilemma. You go up to the approacher and open him by authoritatively saying, "Hey, you taking good care of my girl?" But what if he is the boyfriend or husband? How exactly do you tell early on, without going into the pre-A3 waypoint, "So, how do you guys know each other?"

As always, discussing the OAP issues is okay here, but copying and pasting the thing here is unacceptable and dilutes the information. If you're participating in this discussion, obviously you have already signed up and have read the current issue.
