| | | Laser Surgery: The Pro's And the Cons Mmk.
So, I wear glasses and I've been thinking about what to do to get rid of that.
Currently, I dont actually have a pair...
I accidently left it in another country when I was on vacation, and shits for shits, I'm sure as hell not going back for them....
I have yet to get a pair though.
When I did have them, they were supposed to be for school and using the computer. I dont understand why the computer though, unless thehy kept my eyes from getting worse...
I didnt really use them though because they looked horrible. And I hate contacts because I have a really sick paranoia (spelling?) about letting things come in contact with my eyes, and I'm in no hurry to cure that bitch...

So anyways.
Who in here has gotten laser eye surgery and how was your experience. Or does anyone know people that have gotten it?
Is that shit expensive btw?
Did you have any uncomfortable situations during surgery? before or after?
A good one..is it permanent?
I was thinking of getting one, but I dont want to hear any eye doctor bullshit me about it in an attempt to sell their services >__>.
I want to hear honest opinions. Harsh or not.

| | | I'm also considering LASIK surgery. It is permanent yes, what happens is a laser just removes a bit of tissue in the eye, which doesn't grow back. The lens shape changes and this alters your vision.
It IS expensive. There are 'cheap' places but — avoid them. Get the surgery done by someone who knows what they're doing. Price shouldn't be the key factor in choosing WHO to get your surgery from.
The bad news is: a few days, to a few weeks after you have surgery, you'll have to take precautions not to flip the little bit of cut eye tissue, etc. etc.
The good news is: the fix is permanent, almost always 20/20 or near it, and the surgery itself is about a minute or two long. |

The cut is microscopic, we're talking less than a millimeter. The surgical instrument is incredibly precise. And it's not that easy to flip, you just have to take precaution. Don't be clawing at your eyes, etc.
Also, a lot of people experience really dry eyes afterwards for a little while.
It'll be a while before I get the eye surgery — I have college to pay for right now! |

| | | I was actually thinking about this the past few days. I'm a college student so its not really in the near spectrum unless i make some crafty cuts and turns in the money department. I heard its between 1500-2000$ per eye. For some reason my contacts within the past few months are making my eyes bright bloodshot red even if i only wear them for like 4 hours.. and I'd rather have unclear vision at a party than wear glasses.

I got a blade free procedure by Dr. Carlos Manrique (down here in texas) apparently he is one of if not the best guy for the job..
you have to apply different drops in your eye for a month to help your eyes adjust to everything new.. but its INCREDIBLE!
I got 15-20 vision which is better than 2020 its like i have HD vision.. I Highly recommend it. pm me if you got any questions.

| | | I got it done some years back. It's life changing to go from a life of glasses to none. For a month after, I was still pushing the bridge of my nose, as if I had a pair of glasses on.
My advice, research the doctors and the various procedures out there. I spent months finding a great doctor, and flew 3000 miles to have it done. It cost me $5K, plus the plane trip.
It's also not without risk. And a certain number of folks get "regression", where their vision slowly goes back to blurry.

I have a really bad eye phobia...I remember when I had gotten jumped by a pack of 8 guys. I went to the hospital with my eye swollen shut, but when the doctor tried to give me drops and shit without telling me, I gave her hell for it.
I even refused to take the check up on the second day of my visit.
Is it just the fact that it was blade free that you had to take the drops? Or is it mandatory.
Btw, for surgery like this, they knocked you out right?

| | | no, you pretty much have to take drops either way.. If i told you what they did, you wouldnt want to get it.. Especially if you have a phobia, but i better tell you exactly what youre getting into..
Before you get on the table, they administer like 3 types of drops to your eyes to dialate your pupils and make your eyes numb... COMPLETELY NUMB.. you could seriously poke your own eye with your finger and not feel a thing... kinda cool.
well, then you get on the table... I flipped out. because they put these clamps in your eyes to hold them open.. SCARY SHIT!!! but since your eyes are numb, you dont feel a thing.. a vaccume comes down and latches on to your eyeball to hold it in place and keep it from moving around, then, a lazer takes off the film over your pupil, another lazer comes and fixes your vision, then the doctor places the small film back on your eye..
The film thing is cured when you first Blink.. it doesnt take rehab time... Its crazy.. the lazer comes down and when the machine is lifted off your face, you see everything in a new light.. DETAILED!!! AMAZING.. i got driven home and slept the entire night, woke up the next day and drove myself to work.. My eyes were very sensitive to the light at first because everything is brighter and sharper..You'll see food in a whole new way.. Colors you have never seen will come into your life.. Seriously its life changing!
then you just upkeep your eyes by adding drops every day, and artificial tears to keep them moist... All in all, it was great! Im glad i got it, now i dont have to hide my blue eyes behind glasses anymore.
I got it for free :-D because im my regions lone comedian.. so they made a big autograph signing and interview , and my operation open to the public.. it was cool.
