| | | College Snack etc... help Hey guys I have recently started college and have been wanting to change my lifestyle around with it. I'm 6'3 and 195lbs. Everyone thinks that seems average but my problem is of that 195lbs there is little muscle and a decent size gut . I'm not extremely fat. Do you guys have any suggestions about snacks for my dorm? I now have the time and resources to workout so I dont see that as a problem.
Side Note
- College is the best experience of my life (so far). There are girls everywhere just asking to be gamed! Don't miss out. |

| | | Fruiiiiiiit. Fruiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitttttttt!!
But in all seriousness, fruit gives natural sugars and proteins, not to mention fiber and tons of other nutrients. Our digestive tracts are also optimized for the digestion of fruit [Too long for meat, too short for vegetables].
Also, cutting down on grain and sugar consumption helps. Drink minimal soda, eat minimal grains [avoid bleached flour], eat more lean meat.

| | | Not realy lose just lower my %body fat and at the same time workout. I eat lots of peanut butter (all natural) sandwiches. I just basicaly sold all my chips and soda to people in my dorm and stocked up on gatorade, water, fruit, cheese and beef jerky( i need my meat!). Anymore suggestions?
Sort of off topic but today I was sarging a HB8. Everything went well then afterward my friend tells me she said "I have the mind of a player but not a body of one." I was pissed at first then just realized all the more motivation to train harder and eat healthier. |

| | | Hey man good job on trying to improve..I'm about in the same boat height/weight wise (6'1" 200 lbs.) and am trying to better my eating habits as well. I've been running for a number of years now but a lot of the time I start, then quit for a few weeks, then start back up so I'm trying to get outta that habit as well as starting to lift weights. The number one thing we all need to improve is, of course, discipline. Once you start try not to get off your schedule of exercises, cause believe me even one day off can be tempting to stop for a while, that goes for food too of course.
One last thing I will say is that I work at our university gym and my boss there is a personal trainer and jacked! I went to talk to him one day about trying to improve and was in his office with a bottle of Gatorade and he said the first thing you can do to improve right now is to stop drinking Gatorade during the day except before/after workouts and start drinking water. Apparently Gatorade has a lot of sugar and they'll just stock up in your body during the day. I've been getting into that habit now so just wanted to pass on that bit of info about the Gatorade. Good luck man let us know how it goes!

Fructose is a sugar that cannot be used to refill muscle glycogen so unless it's burned for energy it turns to fat most of the time, unless it refilled liver glycogen but the odds are you aren't glycogen depleted enough for this to occur. And if you eat alot of fructose you also get higher cholesterol. Not to mention fruit has little, if any, protein and no fat which means you will get hungry very quickly after you eat some fruit.
Fructose has a HUGE set of problems that occur with it and IMO fruit is dangerously marketed as a health food. I agree eating fruit is probably better than 95% of people's diets but to say it's simply something amazing to eat is a lie. Vegetables such as kale, spinach, broccoli, tomatoes, green and red peppers are all just as packed with antioxidants, fiber and nutrients as fruit but do not cause insulin spikes or increase cholesterol.
Gatorade is also terrible unless pre/post workout, and that means a lifting workout or a sprint workout, not steady state cardio. If you drink it before a 45 minute elliptical session you will be seriously stunting your progress.
If you wanna burn fat there are lots of snacks to eat. One of my favorites as I am on a ketogenic diet is melted mozzarella cheese on top of pepperoni. I microwave it for 60 seconds and it's f'ing delicious, has zero carbs and will satisfy your hunger for awhile.
In general, if you are chubby, you'd be best off, in my opinion, if you began to restrict carbs drastically and increase fat intake to 60% of your calories, making sure to eat mostly Omega-3 fats as they can really help increase your insulin sensitivity.
I say go for a hardcore ketogenic diet, coupled with low intensity cardio 4-5 days a week, should have you looking pretty shredded within 10-12 weeks.

| | | If you're looking for a healthier lifestyle, I suggest you go to one of those big discount supermarkets. You know, where they sell large amounts of food at a cheap price. Go there and buy a big thing of raisins and nuts. Avoid anything with too much sodium though. I personally enjoy them, and they're good for you. |

| | | Get some protein powder and eggs.
Mix one tablespoon of protein powder preferably with 0.75 eggs (so 3 eggs for 4 tablespoons), stir, and fry.
Some people call it 0-carb bread, but it depends on the powder you use, I think it looks and tastes more like pancakes. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
