| | | Some good ol' Breakfast recipies Hey guys!
Well, as a lot of ppl out there know, breakfast is the most important meal of the day!
Yes...if you get enough calories, protein, veggies fruits etc....youll pretty much be able to do a lot during the day (at least I know I feel like walking crap when I dont have even juice for breakfast)...
however, my inventiveness towards breakfast is rather...limited. Which brings me to:
What do YOU have for breakfast?
Since I am trying to gain a bit of weight Im having this:
* Egg Sandwich: Wheat bread, lettuce, tomato, and 3 egg whites (yuuum)
* OJ
* Milk
Pretty lame eh....? It get things done though (for now)...so yeah, more than open for suggestions on breakfasts.

Right now I'm cutting, but I usually take in around 1,000-1,500 calories between breakfast, post breakfast, pre lunch, and lunch because I lift around 1PM
When I first wake up in the morning I am not really that hungry most of the time and will just take down a bowl of cereal to jump start my metabolism then take down about 500-750 cals 30-45mins later. |

| | | I'm bulking right now, so a high carb breakfast (leg day) is something along the lines of:
bowl of oatmeal: ~300cal, 45g carbs, 16g protein, 5g fat
3 whole eggs scrambled: ~300 cal, 4 g carbs, 20g protein, 22g fat with
2/3 cup low fat 4 cheese blend: 160 cal, 1g carbs, 14g protein, 10g fat.
banana: ~100 cal, 27g carbs, 1g protein, 1g fat.
total: ~860, 72g carb, 51g prot, 38g fat.
On a low carb day (rest day/abs or something), it looks more like:
1 cup egg whites scrambled (4 egg whites): 120 cal, 1g carbs, 24g protein, 1g fat with same 2/3 cup low fat cheese above
4 oz lean turkey sausage: ~180 cal, 1g carb, 16g protein, 12g fat
Protein shake: 140 cal 3g carbs, 26g protein, 1g fat
total: ~600, 7g carb, 82g prot, 24g fat
still massive calories, just little-no carbs.
Upper body days fall somewhere in between those two.
Keep in mind I'm a pretty scrawny guy that has some trouble putting on muscle.
If I were still cutting:
1 cup cantaloupe: 50 cal, 13g carb, 1g protein, .5g fat
and 1 cup scrambled egg whites or a protein shake
hope that helps

| | | my basic breakfast usually starts with either a bow of cereal, bowl of cream of wheat or left overs (i try to get some carbs and fats and vitamins)
on top of that 4-6 raw eggs and a glass of milk (lots of protein)
as of recently been drinking a shot of olive oil (extra virgin, the best olive oil i can find at a grocery store, has good vitamin E content)
and a fruit, any fruit i can get my hands on as it is not always available
and a glass of fruit juice but i go through bottles quickly so doesnt happen every day
i have kept my intake pretty natural, i have stayed away from synthetic stuff. I used to take vitamins but now no longer because it was synthetic. Then I saw on the news after i quit that a study done showed multivitamins reduces longevity, which i thought was weird coz i thought my beliefs stemmed from being neurotic :/
and say wut u want about raw eggs. disgusting, disease, salmonella, blah... i have heard it all, but truth is i have never felt healthier and nothing has happened
oh yeah and lots of water of course
combined with exercise this did good for cutting and slow weight gain, about 12-15 pounds in 6 months (my workout isnt very techinical, i just do, and do a variety, with much emphasis on arms and chest)
my two cents to this dime piece |

I've started eating raw eggs too it was pretty gross getting it down the first time. I'm working my way to being able to down multiple eggs in one sitting its just the white part is hard to get down, not because of the tastes its just a weird texture. Do you have any tips for eating raw eggs? |

| | | I'm so glad this thread was started!
Since breakfast is my favorite part of the day (since it's the only time where you can actually eat lots of sweets and NOT crash and burn).
So here are TARCKfire's Breakfast Faves. Keep note that some of these might be biased towards developing/maintaining lean muscle, low fat (as I am a cyclist): 1. The Omelet
Ingredients: - 3-6 eggs (depending on your needs), add one egg if removing yolk
- 1-3 slices of your favorite cheese (I like American)
- 1-3 slices of your favorite meat (I like turkey)
- 1/2-1 green pepper
- 1/2-1 onion
- table salt
HOW TO MAKE:
1. Pre-heat pan on medium flame. An omelet pan is best.
2. Dice the peppers and onions as small as possible.
3. In a separate bowl, mix your eggs and add salt. If you don't know how to separate egg whites, try this method: YouTube - separating egg whites.
4. Add your cooking spray to the pan and let settle. For a healthier omelet, I recommend using olive oil or PAM. For a better tasting omelet, use 1/2 to 1 tablespoon of butter. If using butter, let it melt all across the pan, so none of your eggs stick to it.
5. Now add your vegetables to the pan, and lightly sautee them. If you want, you can add your meat at this point as well, but that can be done later. It's best to learn how to "flip" items in a pan without using a spatula; if you don't know how to do this, look here: YouTube - How to make a omelette www.mycrock-pot.com. It takes a few tries to get it to work for you. Remember: forward and reverse :-D
6. Now add your eggs to the pan, and let it settle with the vegetables and/or meat. Using a fork, move the edges of the egg and allow the uncooked part to reach the bottom of the pan. Continue to do this until there's no more to move. At this point, you can shake the pan a little to move the egg, and flip it over either using a spatula or the technique shown above.
7. Let the other side cook. At this point, you can add your cheese slices and/or meat. Serve by folding the omelet as it reaches the plate. 2. Grandma's French Toast
INGREDIENTS: - Bread, whole-wheat or white
- 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon
- one capful (about a teaspoon) of vanilla extract
- 3 or 4 eggs (or 1 egg yolk + 2 or 3 egg whites)
- 2 tablespoons of milk (whole or 2%)
- Sugar (as a topping)
- 1 tablespoon Butter (NOT PAM, OLIVE OIL OR ANYTHING ELSE)
I don't want to make this forever long, so if you want some tips on how to make this, let me know. 3. Strawberry Banana Smoothie Killer
INGREDIENTS: - 6 or 7 frozen strawberries
- 3/4 frozen banana
- 1/4 cup orange juice (or apple juice)
- 1/4 cup 2% or whole milk
- 1-2 tablespoons vanilla yogurt (or vanilla ice cream if fat gain is your goal)
- 1 tablespoon oatmeal
- 1 tablespoon flaxseed
- 2 scoops whey protein
- any other fruit you want (I sometimes add pineapple)
RECOMMENDATIONS:
1. Put the liquids FIRST to prevent killing your blender (unless it's a Blendtec, which will blend anything).
2. I highly recommend AGAINST adding ice, as it will dilute your smoothie and make it much more viscous (i.e. a frosty instead of a smoothie).
3. You can add sugar, but there will be a lot of natural sugars coming from the juice(s) and strawberries.
4. Put the oatmeal and flaxseed FIRST to grind them, so that you aren't drinking whole flaxseed or oatmeal chips.
5. Blend at LOW speed first, then at a higher speed to decrease viscosity of the drink.
I have a couple of "on-the-go" suggestions, as well as more complicated breakfasts. PM if you want some more ideas!

| | | I had the same problem when i started, i used to only do 2 a day. What I do is crack one egg in a cup and take the whole thing in one gulp, its relatively tasteless. And just do that one by one. It also helps not to think about it too much, or make it complicated. Crack egg into cup, empty all into mouth, one big gulp, repeat.
good food trackfire, mushrooms are also good in omelets, just regular mushrooms, nothing magical
*EDIT* smell the egg too and check if the white is watery or still jelly like and holds together, if its watery or smells bad throw it away | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
