Default getting motivated to work out

hey guys,
I really want to start working out but I can never seem to really get myself motivated into an actual plan or routine. I use the excuse I dont have a spotter so I dont do free weights, any suggestions

watch a Rocky Montage on YOUTUBE and you'll be doing one armed pushups in no time.

Also, i watch the movie PUMPING IRON and it gives me a huge boost to lift weights.

There are no excuses when it comes to working out. ( within reason). My car broke down last night, and today was leg day at the gym, couldn't find a ride, so I rode my bike there( 5 miles each way nbd). If you really want something so bad, maybe its a 6 pack, maybe you want to squat 500, hell like most of us you just want to attract more girls, then just go do it. You only live one time man, think about it, you look back 5 years and go wow, if I only ate right, and went to the gym I wonder what I'd look like.

I've been working out for two years, went from 145lbs, to 185lbs at 6'2 with single digit body fat. It was hard at first, it was hell, but something in you will eventfully snap, and you will love doing it. While I'm in the gym, my goal is to be the hardest working guy in there at that moment, if anyone is working harder then me, I must step it up. When I run( btw just started running a month ago its ADDICTING) I run in a park, and I run down town, around 6pm with everyone watching. I love running with people watching me as I tend to push myself much much harder. Plus once you get in decent shape, girls whistle at you, blow you kisses, will be with there bf's and turn around to see you. Thats why I run in a crowded environment, motivation.

What helps me the most is, HAVE A GOAL !!!
If your just like, ehh I'm going to go to the gym, lift some, do some cardio etc. No, you need to be like, I want to loose 10 pounds this month, or I want to squat 225 in a month. Whatever it may be, have that goal. Mine are always changing, currently I want 5-7% bf for when I'm on the beach in FL. Having that goal, that vision of what I'd look like sitting on the beach, makes me run that extra 1/2 mile, makes me pull out thoses few extra reps.

In the end though no one will make you work out, and EAT RIGHT, but I can without a doubt say, its the best thing I ever started in my life. I wouldn't give it up for the world.

I like the last post, but if I may add- It's not always going to get 'easier', or become 'enjoyable'. I suppose working out can become these things in a sense, but you also have to embrace the pain, and know that it's goign to continue to be a painful grind. In the words of the the famed cyclist greg lemonde, "It never gets easier, you just go faster". As an avid cyclist, I know this to be true, and know that it is not cycling specific as I also run swim and lift.

But yea, at the end of the day, after a few months of well kept routines, you will feel like you are kicking the world's ass and of course, that's inner game money baby.

Good stuff man, yea as he said and I forgot to state before, my inner game changed so much since I started lifting ( before I was even into pickup). Strong stuff.

ohh and side note about rocky montage, a few months back when I was an AFC before I knew about the game, I found out my LTR was cheating on me....

I found out while standing on the steps rocky ran up, makes me laugh every time some brings up rocky.

Yeah man. When I started out the game, I was around 320 (I'm 6'3") and had zero muscle. I'm at 220 now and I'm pretty ripped. It took me about a year to lose the fat and build the muscle.

The motivation must come from within but the hardest part is just starting out. My secret is just to start out light. Go for a 20 minute exercise (10 lifting, 10 of cardio). This is a verrrrry minimal workout. Work your way up to 50 minutes. This is the optimum workout time. Anything past 50 mins starts catabolism (muscle break down).

If you don't feel like working out, tell yourself you're just going to go and do a few reps. By the time you get through your sets, you will feel really good and the blood will be flowing. You won't want to stop. This worked great for me.

Also, I recommend going daily to build the habit. I missed maybe 7 days working out in the first year.

I also recommend very intense music for getting you "in state" for working out. Static X, Slipknot, or System of a Down always worked for me.

+1 AMEN BRO!!! I never thought i'd be addicted to weight lifting and exercising.. Now everytime i look in the mirror, i cant help but feel good about myself (ive lost nearly 40 pounds and have packed on some hunks of beef where tits and flab used to be) Everytime i look in the mirror, I cant help but flex.

I go to the club, and I feel like all the attention is on me... Maybe cause im surrounded by hot bitches.. but i would not have the success that i have right now if i hadnt started hitting the gym..

Now, Im not saying that my muscles attract women.. Its the CONFIDENCE that you get from bettering your health and your physical appearance that gets you THE WOMEN..

that was my goal.. I got pissed off when a girl gave me the Lets Just be friends Speech, and i made it my goal to Bulk up and make her realize that she was missing out.. I picked up a couple of Pick Up books, and hit the gym. and Viola... the girl wishes i would THINK about putting my dick in her mouth.. SHE WISHES FOR IT!

as long as your ego isn't bigger than your ability, then you don't need a spotter.

that's just an excuse,

take some naked pics of yourself.

Dont show them to me

and see the truth of what girls see, then take steps to make them go, "wow he has such a hot body"

The best way to get motivated is to do something fun. If you like biking, do that. Of course for upper body strength, it's hard to beat weights. Maybe get some things you can do in front of the TV? I work out at home with only free weights and a pull-up bar and I get good results.
