Default Yet Another Abs Thread

i don't need a thread about weight loss... i've done a good job lowering my calorie intake and losing weight and i plan on keeping that up... (and let me tell you: i've accomplished more in the kitchen in one year than i've done in the gym in four years) ... but my core strength is shitty and i figure some good ab exercises could only help my overall fitness...

an webpage isn't gonna help me... that's just the kind of guy i am... it's all mental... if it's online it sits online... if i buy something: a book, a machine, a video... then i'm more likely to use it and follow through... it's the same reason a lot of people don't really get good at PUA until they shell out the thousands to have someone give them that push...

so i'm looking to spend some money to give myself that push... i might as well spend it on something that actually helps...

i've seen this product mentioned in another thread:

http://www.iwantsixpackabs.com/onlin...wer_wheel.html

does anyone have any experience with this? anyone have any other recommendations?

Power wheels are awesome. A great $8 investment.

Most ab books are going to be shit, because it's going to be cosmetic, "I want my abs to show," when that's a function of diet, not ab work. If you want a strong core I would look at a book like Bullet Proof Abs, or just take up deadlifting. A guy who can pick up 500 pounds has a very strong core.

Start with Core Fitness and Yoga classes at your gym. 2-3 times a week for six should fix your problem.

Compound movements (squats, deadlifts, overhead squats, etc.), prone bridges, side bridges, reverse crunches, ab wheel, wood chops.

Done.

(Not all in the same workout though!)

1. 5-10 mins of warmup/cardio. Running, bicycle, rope jumping
2. About 40 mins of intense weigh lifting or resistance training. Dont rest too much between sets and reps
3. 5-10 mins of different types of crunches and ab exercies

I like doing those after my weigh training.

As people said previously deadlifts, and squats help your core strength hardcore. I don't do much direct ab work like most people, but rely on these lifts to obtain it. Also, my body didn't grow untill I started doing deads and squats, load that bar up, make sure you have someone watch your form when your doing both as I see improper form, esp in deads all the time. Before you know it u'll have girls rubbing your stomach in the clubs
