I never liked the typical personal trainers. I've always trained for strength rather then looks. Theres a motto I go by, ''guys who are jacked aren't always strong. But guys who are strong are always jacked'' I don't remember where I read that but it certainly is the truth.

I first got into lifting seriously years ago after one of my ex's told me her new boyfriend was more ripped then I was. I went nuts! Ate clean and lifted hard for a year. I went from 180- 235lbs in that time and was solid as a brick. Whenever someone that hadn't seen me in a month or more ran into me they couldn't believe how much bigger I got. My ex's parents would ask her if I was on steroids! I've always trained in powerlifting gyms so my favoritte excerciseswere always squats and deadlifts (its amazing how much mass you add with those excercises)

I never got to big into supplements. All I ever really like to take are animal pak (great multi) animal flex (great joint supplement for heavy lifters) and now animal pump (because I've always liked creatine). and if I can't get a full meal in after my workout I'll have a Up Your Mass protein shake. protein bars are also handy to have in the car, work, or anywhere you might miss a meal.

Fader- How can you stomach the superpump? that is some god awfull tasting crap! lol
Thank you at least someone agrees lol. Thought I was talking into a black hole for a second.

I do HIT (High Intensity Training) so I do a lot of compound excercises (squats, deadlifts, should press). I do full body workouts and only haev to lift twice a week. When I gradudated high school I was so skinny that once I cleaned my act up I got the same comments (about juicing).

LOL I am pretty good with taste and supps. Dont try this at home kids! The fruit punch and blueberry are not bad. I am taking 2 scoops pre workout. Previous I was taking stacker 2's for energy but no need for that and you cant mix vasolidators and eca stacks cause eca works as a constrictor.

For the sake of completeness i am going to disagree with this. If you body fat is 10 percent and you gain 20 pounds, 15 pounds of muscle and 5 pounds of fat you are gaining more muscle then fat but your fat percent is going up (you just put on muscle at a 3 : 1 fat ratio which is 25%). That would bring your total bodyfat percentage up if it it is at 10% (I am not going to do the rest of the math but I will leave that to the reader if they care enough to test what I said)

the point i keep trying to make is that a lot of guys on here are saying that they are hard gainers etc, yet none of them know their daily calorie count

then other people post-this supplement is great etc, of course it is if it makes you have a calorie surplus...

hardgainers are often people who have no idea how much they eat, and are falsely under the impression that they "eat loads"

In my mind the triad is Proper workout regime, proper diet, adequate rest. Only after that do supps come into play. Of course they do bro.... same reason everyone is bad at pickup... they are not good looking enough, too short, etc. Everyone has excuses. It's the American way

I'll try and explain my thoughts the best I could.

lets say you weigh 200 lbs with 25% bf. which means you have 50 lbs fat and 150 lbs muscle... Then you put on 100lbs(easier to calculate). 25lbs fat 75 lbs muscle

now your at 75lbs fat and 225lbs muscle. which equates to 25% bf still...

sooo, as long as your weight gain is at least 76% muscle (in this case... will vary for others) and 24% or less of fat, your bodyfat percentage will go down.

I hope I'm making sense with this now. Where your going wrong with your example is your forgeting to add in the muscle weight into the equation. you can add fat and muscle and depending on percentages of each you'll either end up equal, higher, or lower then your previous bodyfat %.... of course you'll have more fat, but the fact that you also have a lot more muscle hides the small amount of fat gain, while keeping your bf% or even lowering it.

Ok but now you are saying something different. Before you said as long as you gain more muscle then fat which is not in all cases true. NOW you are saying as long as you gain more muscle then fat in accordance with your bodyfat percentages.

I can prove the first statement wrong easily.

Guy ways 200 he is 20% bf that means he is 160 muscle 40 pounds of fat.
Guy gains 40 pounds 25 muscle 15 fat. Thats more muscle then fat but that is a 37.5 precent body fat gain. This would bring him to a toal weight of 240 but now is 185 muscle and 55 fat bring his body fat to 22.91% percent.

So what you first said is wrong:

Hey Fader, your absolutely correct. My brains a little scrambled from working to much this week and I left out all the important info in the first post. All I was trying to say is it's possible to gain fat and still look like you lost it.

And off-topic but send me a pm with info on your one on ones. I'm right across the Holland Tunnel!

Yea eating tons of food(lots of lean proteins) was probably what did most of my work...and I did go from 140 to 160...no lie at all
