Waitress...?

Need some tips here guys! There's a coffeshop in my town with this really cute waitress, at least an 8 or 9. I meet her the first time a couple of months ago and we had strong eyecontact and warm smiles (I know she's probably a hired gun but let me continue). After that I've been traveling around Asia and got home today and went to the coffeshop with my friend. And yes, there she was standing and smiling at me again. I passed her and said hi and she told med that she hasn't seen me for a while there bla bla bla. As we are leaving she says "Goodbye, nice to see you again". Well I don't know about you guys, but for me that's a damn IOI! But where do I go from here? How do I "ask her out" without hitting to obvious on her? I read somewhere that the best way is to write it down on a note so that she don't feels uncomfortable infront of her co-workers....but I don't know...that feels a bit childish

Hi man,
I worked in bars and coffeshops and, here in Italy at least, saying "Goodbye, nice to see you again" or similar it is mandatory because I have been told that it makes the customer to feel more satisfied of the service which will make him return instead of going to another bar/coffeshop.
She is a hired gun: she must do this. As I see it, in this case it is not an indicator of interest.

Angelo is right and I would agree with him.

The one possible thing you could have done, and keep this in the future, is, when she (a hired gun or anyone else for that matter) says that they haven't seen you in a while, with a glowing smile tell them that you had been traveling and were in a specific place.

I just got back from Australia, and at my watering hole, the same thing happened. The hostess said a similar thing as to I have not been there for a while, I was, that's right, that's because I was in Australia for ten days vacationing and enjoying the time off with a big smile... Later, she came over and wanted to know all about my trip, including who I had gone with. Now, that's a bit more genuine IOI in my book.

Guess what I am also trying to say, is that it is difficult to know a hired gun IOI's. But you also have to do some work in return. They know a gazillion people that come in and out of their venue, it is up to you to make yourself different than any of the other customers.

Keep that in mind next time.
