Alright, so you have Intrepid's take on the coin through can trick, and my video will be up tomorrow when damn Youtube is working again.

Just a couple of things beforehand about the video:

The secod time I demonstrate the trick, you can see the coin right after I jerk it. Generally, that shouldn't happen, lol.

Yeah, I know I look like shit and the movie wasn't that good, but it was my first and only take, made at midnight. Sue me if I don't look perfect.

Alright, now that I have some more free time, on to the next trick!

We're going to start incorporating card tricks. Here it is:

The Blood Prediction Trick [Stigmata]:

Effect: The subject picks a card, then shuffles it while the magicians back is turned, and then the magician turns around and then asks the subject to squeeze the magician's wrist or hand, and then when they let go their card appears in bright red on the magician's arm.

How to do it: This trick is much simpler than the last one, but it's still pretty complex if you know how to force a card. So, assuming that you do NOT know how to do a card force, I'll split it up into two parts.

Forcing Cards: Ok, so the whole purpose is to give someone the impression that they're picking a random card while the magician knows which card they have. I'm going to cover my favorite force, but keep in mind that there are tons of other ways to force a card. Once you master forcing, you can make tricks on the spot pretty easily.

This force, which I've named the riffle force, is quite simple an easy but it WORKS. Simply, you're going to take the cards in a 'Mechanics' grip [see pictures once they're up, but basically they're in your left hand if your right handed, with your fingers extending along the sides to the top] and you're going to stick the tiniest piece of the flesh of your pinky into the corner of the cards. [once again, see pictures] This is also known as getting a 'break'. In order for the force to work, you're going to need to know the card on the bottom of the top packet.

Then, you're going to hold the deck as if you aren't holding a break at all. You simply use your right hand to slowly riff the cards from bottom to top, while asking the subject to say "Stop" whenever they want. Just stop when they say stop, put your hands down slightly and separate at your break. Don't worry; they will never notice. Then, give them the card that you know. Bam.
If this confuses you, stick through it 'till pictures are up.


Now, back to the Prediction.

You're going to force the card, and have them put it back into the deck. Then you tell them to shuffle it, and that you're going to turn your back to insure that you can't see it. Then, while they're focused on the person shuffling, scratch the NUMBER or LETTER of the card on either your palm or wrist. If you don't have nails to do this with, sneak a broken pencil. The whole scratching process takes a whole of 5 seconds if your slow. The subject will tell you that they're done, then you turn around and ask them to hold up their left hand [assuming you scratched it into your left arm / hand] and to squeeze your wrist/arm as hard as they can while thinking of the card, minus the suit. Here's my usual line:

"I want you to picture the card you got, but without the suit. The suit doesn't matter. For instance, if you had the *Nine* of *clubs*
[insert a card OTHER than theirs in between the stars], then it'd just be the *nine*. So, you've got the card. Now I want you to repeat it over and over, while picturing the card in your head. Alright, now let go. See where my arm / hand turned red from you squeezing? Watch."

Then once they've released their grip, rub your hand lightly as if you were sweeping dust off a table. Their number should appear, and then if you performed it well enough then they will be AMAZED. Seriously, this is one of the most powerful tricks I know of. Enjoy.

I urge you guys reading this to actually go to a magic store and buy the instructional materials for these effects. There really is no substitute for learning from the creator. Wayne Houchin is, simply put, a genius and he does deserve the support.

That said, there are a few things that anyone who is serious about magic needs to have.

Scotch & Soda: Possibly the best coin trick ever.
Thumb Tip: The most utilitarian prop ever invented.
Invisible Deck: Mentalism can be exceptionally powerful, so be very careful with it.

I'd also recommend getting a pair of D'Lites. I have a pair of red ones and I have so much damn fun with them. I walk down the street catching motes of light out of the air and tossing them back and forth, through my clothes, through my ears, up my nose, swallowing them, etc.

Girls open you if you have a pair of these. My favorite trick is once I know I've got their attention, I take one light, split into two (one in each hand), then swallow them. I grimace for a second and extract the lights from my nipples, smile, and jokingly say, "Sexy, no?" Always gets a laugh.

This one is more of a stunt than a trick (although deception is involved) but the effect is pretty cool.

This is a new wrinkle on an old trick: breaking a pencil with a dollar bill. I decided to change the bill to a cigarette since I know some smokers. Alos I found some people think there is a metal rod or something in the folded dollar bill, and the cig is a more convincing prop in this regard, especially if borrowed.

Allow everyone to examine the pencil and ciggie for normality. No gaff are involved, so they should pass inspection.

All you need is an ordinary wooden pencil and a borrowed cigarette. Have the spectator hold her palms up with about six inches between them. Lay the pencil on her hands and have her close her fingers around it so she is gripping the pencil between her fists. Tell her to hold it firmly and "lock" her elbows because the cigarette will exert considerable force when it hits the pencil. This is important because if she does not lock her elbows, her hands may go down when you strike the pencil, ruining the effect (and revealing the secret). Press down against the pencil with your finger to make sure it is stable and won't travel downward when you strike it.

Then take the cigarette between your index finger and thumb--fold the rest of your fingers into a fist beneath. Tap the cig lightly on the pencil as if preparing to swing. Then quickly raise cigarette high up and bring it down swiftly, snapping the pencil in half!

The trick to this is on the downstroke for the strike, you stick your middle finger out below the cigarette and THAT is what breaks the pencil. The force will push the two halves of the pencil apart enough so that the cigarette should pass through unscathed. You need to make the motion smooth and fast so people won't see the extended finger.

This effect is so convincing that even when I muffed the trick and the cigarette broke, one of the spectators defended the effect, saying "Hey it STILL broke the pencil!"

You can follow this up with the cigarette bend. Challenge anyone to bend a cigarette nearly in half without breaking it. You can do it by simply tightly rolling a dollar bill around the cig before doing the bend. It should emerge unscathed after the bend.

One thing I thought of trying is getting some pendant cords with clasps that are the appropriate lengths to do a Professor's Nightmare rope trick. It looks more natural than carrying around a bunch of rope, and if you get some pendants (which you of course slip off before the trick), you also have peacocking built right in.

1. Let the scarf hang down your sides
2. with your right hand, grab the left hand side of the scarf bring it to the top
3. with your left hand grab the right side bring it under
4. pivot with your thumb undernearth
5. pull the left side on top(making it look like you tied it
6. bring round to the back of your kneck
7. Pull off

Just something thats is fun, i have been wearing bandannas alot so this will be something fun

I like that bar stunt, Ricky. Here's one in return.

Bet a guy three beers vs. three shots--he drinks the shots and you drink the beers, and whoever finishes first pays for the whole lot. The only catch is you get a 1-beer head-start and neither of you can touch the other guy's glasses. If he goes for it, you drink your first beer and as you take the last gulp, while he grabs his first shot, you suddenly invert your empty beer glass over his last full shot, trapping it. Since he can't touch your glass, you can finish your other two free beers at your leisure.

I recommend doing this at the end of the night, as drinking and sarging don't mix all that well. Or do it on a night when you're not sarging.

Here is a great "soft" neg for girls--should get plenty of laughs:

On a bar napkin write down the following:

I AM WE TODD IT
I AM SOFA KING WE TODD IT

Ask the girl if she can read it. If she says yes, insist she prove it by reading it aloud. Get her to read it aloud again until she figures out what she is REALLY saying.

Then get her to help you find new victims, like her girlfriends.

Always having your thumb behind the pencil, concealing it.
Ask the girl, "ok i want you to pick a number between 1-100" or "ok i want you to pick the first let of your middle name" Pretend you have her number, and pretend to write it down while writing nothing. "ok i have it"

You set down your pencil or put in pocket, and ask her soemthing to distract"what do you think the possiblities are of me getting this right" while saying this write her number down
