Default Suck at dancing/low confidence?

I want to learn some basic dance moves to use at clubs/bars where primarily hip hop music is played. What is my best bet, I would defiantly be interested in taking a class but I don't know where to look for this in my area, nor do I know if it will be what I'm expecting. ( I don't want to learn how to choreograph Usher's moves in a music video) but rather learn some basic dance moves in the club.

watch saturday night fever as well as flash dance

practice soem moves - youll be sweet

actually just watch anything with john travolta in it

the thing i find about dancing at the clubs is that if you are to serious you look like the dancing is the most important thing to you
if you go for more of a playful, hammed up, dance style (saturday night fever) your state will be great and youll be smiling and then you will get attention.

I have a similar problem... I was trained in ballroom, but that doesn't really translate that well to the "club." It does, however, go over really well at
a regular bar with a HB. I would suggest this, though, monkey see monkey do. Just watch the people who seem to know what they're doing and emulate them. Other than that, Flashdance is a great movie.

Damn really thats all I need? I'm thinking I would feel better by stepping outside of my comfort zone and learning a bit.

I feel what your saying, you need confidence right to get on the dance floor and start moving? you feel like the whole floor is watching you, judging if your any good... let me break it down even more so...

I hadn't hit the club's in 2 years, never danced at any before... I felt I didnt have the confidence, like i explained above... now I am more confident, I dance all the time... I dont know If im any good, really.. Im not fussed if i am, I just know im having fun, im happy and enjoying myself when im dancing with all my friends... See, the thing is, when a friend of mine wont join in with the group... it's like, damn... they are going to sit out, be boring? they dont want to be with us, and even if a friend of mine does join in but isnt good, he or she get's the respect just for wanting to be with their friends...

I have a friend who cant dance, but as a result it's hilarious, ad I laugh all the time at his dancing.. not because im taking the pi$$ but more so because it just bring's them emotions in most of us, truth be told... the whole dance floor wont stop and watch you if your a bad dancer DO NOT FEAR THAT... they will stop and watch if you are an exceptionally good dancer and then you will soak up the love... as for now, just get there, be with the friends which want the good time and join in.. just have fun.. I cant dance that well, i feel my dancing is boring and too repetitive... but who cares, everyone gives me credit for being a fun person rather then a boring person...

YouTube - Learn How to Freestyle Dance- "Rock Step"

he has a few videos up. They're not bad, should get you started.

If you want to learn more popping styles go to Youtube and type in Mr Wiggles lessons. Wiggs is the truth and a veteran.

Dude all I have to say is damn Mr Wiggles' tutting moves are sick! I always get crazy with it, sometimes in a dance battle, and knowing some moves like that would kill it! Dancing is meant to be fun, just learn a couple 2 steps, the guy thats on that link that seldomseen posted has a bunch of good basic moves you could easily learn and combine with. I always like to throw in an old school move, I'm talkin old old school, just to make sure everyone knows I'm just having fun and not all hella serious about dancing or anything. I.E. Cabbage patch, raise the roof, running man, the carlton, etc. lol It seems to be contagious on the dancefloor. Once you get one HB in the group doing it, the others start too and before you know it, you got an old school dance-off goin on. Don't be too cool to act a fool sometimes.
