Default Dorm room decoration

This coming year I have a single bedroom in my fraternity house. It measures ~13/14' x 9'. The furniture included in the room is a closet, dresser, desk and bed. I'll be getting a futon or love seat (depending on cost) and probably a small coffee table if I can fit it. I have a small LCD tv, mini fridge and a few posters now - subaru rally cars (2 posters, probably only gonna put 1 up), boondock saints, a picture of me playing lacrosse, print of a drawing of our house that's gonna be framed. I have a led zeppelin poster but every other person in college has the same poster so that's not going up.

Other things I'm thinking about:

maryland flag - majority of people at my school are from the tristate area, so it should be a good conversation piece/make me different.

I need some kind of cool mood lighting (no candles allowed). I find black lights a little tacky...maybe some kind of string led lighting around the perimeter of the ceiling or some fake candles? The room already has a ceiling lamp that's pretty bright so I'm looking for something a little dimmer. I have a 5 headed floor lamp that can have 2,3, or 5 lights on, but I'm looking for something more unique. Lighting's the big thing I've been thinking about; any ideas?

Learn Feng Shui and apply that to the room. Makes you sound intelligent and sophisticated when you explain how you designed the room.

Posters and a flag are what I'd expect a college room to be decorated with. Of course you want to pick stuff that fits your identity, but consider some plants (either live or decent artificial) and framed pictures. If you are into photography or painting or sketching, your own creations would be unique.

Lighting to be able to create a mood is a good thought. I've read that sometimes not having any where else to sit but the bed makes it easier to transition into Seduction without as much of a state change when your already sitting there watching a movie or what not.

Red lights hide your imperfections.. put up some red string lights around your room.. You'll thank me later.

Put frames around your posters - they look 10x better.
