Default Books on Female Psychology

Hey guys,

I just joint the forum and I have a question on the fundamentals:
Which books (or other resources) would you suggest to study to understand female psychology better?

I see there have been some similar forum posts in the past, but I thought initiating this discussion again may yield more satisfying answers at this time.

Of course there is this emotional progression model in Magic Bullets which was a great eye opener.

What I prefer to read is something written by a woman, that illustrates the inner dynamics of female thought processes (or emotional processes) on issues like relationships, attraction, sexuality, friendship etc.

I think "My Secret Garden" will be a good book for the sexual issues, and I will start reading that as soon as it arrives.

I am aware that field experience is the best resource, but I'd greatly appreciate if someone could show me some way to start with.

Sperm Wars and The Red Queen are two that come to mind. I liked both, but the Red Queen was super long.

I checked their content on Amazon.com and they are definitely worth reading, thank you.

As far as I see, both of them are based on evolutionary/sexual biology concepts and written by scientist.

To get some other perspective, I am also wondering if there are more psychological books written by female authors? Even some novels wherean indirect voice communicates what it is to think or feel like a woman may help.

Default its not a book but

Its not a book - but what do you think about watching Sex in the City to understand female pyschology?

I've also heard good things about "My secret garden" but that box can be sexually disturbing.

Do a search on Amazon for a book called 'The Female Brain' by Dr. Louann Brizendine. Very informative and she's and she studied at both UC Berkley and Yale so she's not some female quack blabbing about something she doesnt know about.

Red Queen was pretty eye opening for me...

You can skip the beginning about genetics and start on Chap. 5 for the stuff about animal and human mating behavior.

Thanks guys! This will give me a good amount of material to start with.

I am actually not American (and living in LA now) and I don't know to what extent TV series and movies reflect women psychology in real life. (for instance I remember Savoy saying in one of the interviews something that unlike what is depicted in some of the Hollywood movies, it is not the under-appreciated and clean-hearted shy guy, but the confident and energetic guy that girls select in the end)

Though I am inclined to think Sex and City is a more realistic TV series among others. (And may be due to its popularity and theme, it may be effecting how the girls are thinking.)

I just read 'The Female Brain' by Louann Brizendine.

It's a bit repetitive to begin with, but once it gets going, there is lots of value in there. It really opened my eyes to learn the extent to which women's brains are wired differently and how hormones determine so much how they behave and react to things.

Women and men really are different species! If you want to really figure out how and why women are so different from men, this book makes a lot of things clear.

I had quite a few 'aha' moments when reading the book, and it will definitely help me in my future interactions with women.

'the mating mind' gives you an in depth look at the human mind in mating (evolution) and what humans look for in mates and how the mind got to where it is. its probably one of the best ones...that and 'the female brain'
