    Starting new threads

Could the rules of the forum be changed so that you cannot start a thread except on Field Reports unless you have 15 posts?
A lot of the threads that hit the Worst Of are by kids who are new to the forum - only a post or two to their names - don't read the FAQ and post immediately to the Main Board about 'this one girl' etc.

We tried that already and it failed.
Feel free to post suggestions though. I am willing to take any good ones because as of now we have tried quite a few things and none have helped.

I dont think restricting them to FR subforums will work. They will just flood the FR forums instead with the same questions.
Maybe a compulsory "introduction" thread would be required, so that senior users can know the 'newbie" better. Most of the time, the newbie's intro indicates his/her level of understanding of the game and also the sticking points, and thus any advice would be tailored to that person. Many first posters really dont give enough info about themselves and piss the others by asking questions so rudimentary that the only advice would be "get the VAH".
...suggestion: the VAH Chapter 3 is currently available for free download from mm. Is it possible to get them do a test of the knowledge of M3 model before being allowed to post?
Maybe the first 5 "threads" started by newbies should be approved by moderators, but then that places an even heavier burden on mods.
The majority of newbies posts can be resolved with the DAFS answer. Perhaps they could be given a list of "broad" keywords [day2, phone game, one-itis, inner game, Amog] that will provide them with their answers...

We thought about doing tests but we didnt really feel that was the best alternative. Your second point was thought of and shot down for the reason you gave.
We are thinking about possibly bringing back some kind of intro forum.
