  1. new music for my collection

hi all, ive primarily been into heavy metal music all of my life but after several comments made about my linear music tastes and ive decided to expand my music tastes.

ive brought cesaria evora (style mentions it in the game and it IS really nice music), johnny cash, and bjork. and i actually do like this music now that ive listened to it.

but im wondering what else i can add, anyone know any good r&b, hip hop, dance (thinking of ministry of sound here but dont know where to start), or any other else?

    thanks.

  2. I'll give you some dance music, or electronic or whatever you wish to call it.

New Order, Depeche Mode(kinda), Daft Punk, MSTRKRFT, Kraftwerk, Jean Michele Jarre(sp?), Justice, Moby, Tiesto. Also a great place to look is on iTunes, under their essentials.

Some hiphop-esque would be stuff like, Sage Francis, Atmosphere, Living Legends, Zion I. Even more mainstream stuff like OutKast is actually quite musical.

Jazz-Look for stuff like jazz standards.

Some other people to check out would be Girl Talk and RJD2.
I'm just throwin' ideas put to help. Good Luck!

    My recommendations is;
Telefon Tel Aviv - Experimental psychedelic electronica. Sounds really good.

Nujabes - He is a japanese hiphop/rap dj, and he samples from many genres, miles davis to traditional Japanese music. He also does a lot with underground artist for vocals.

Thomas Dybdahl - He is (in my opinion) Norways best singer/songwriter. It's excellent for chilling out, and when your having girls over.

Andrea Bocelli - Amazing singer. Check out the album Vivere: Best of

John Coltrane and Miles Davis for some oldschool and good jazz.

Gang Starr and Immortal Technique for your underground rap.

Ziggy Marley, Bob Marley, Stephen Marley, Damian Marley for your reggae.

Everyone can be found on Myspace

    try some;

    hiphop
    Notorious B.I.G (biggie)
    Jay-Z
    Dr. Dre
    Method man
    T.I
    The Game
    Kanye West
    Tupac (2Pac)
    Ludacris
    Snoop Dogg

alot of these are mainstream, and you will for sure hear them on the dancefloor.

    Electronic
    Röyksopp
    Gigi D'Agostino
    Tiesto
    Carl Coxx
    Armin Van Buuren

the last 3 are DJ's, and you will mainly find mixes by them, but theyre great. Imo Carl Coxx is the best of those.

    good luck

  5. Dude, fuck people. Dont ever change your musical tastes because you dont know the latest song by some shitty pop artist.

Anyone get the feeling recently that Ministry of Sound is more or less on autopilot at this point? Their compilations are getting BORING in my opinion... mostly they are just picking the top stuff off beatport, the minimal blippy junk, either that or commissioning dance cover versions of whatever crap is in the UK charts. Anyway. These days I prefer artist albums or compilations like this series (direct iTunes link) http://electricnation2010.com/tracks
