should a balding guy not wear hats?

    Here's my situatuion:

I have thinning hair and a receeding hairline. A few weeks ago I bought a bowler hat that looks pretty good on me, I get compliments and AIs when I wear it.

However, I have a friend who says that when a balding man wears hats, it will look to women like he's insecure about his balding and just wants to cover it.

    So my question:

Do you guys think I should wear the hat in order to get the peacocking done and look good, or cut it out in order to not look insecure about my hair and not produce "negative surprises" when I take it off?

Re: should a balding guy not wear hats?

I had a friend that wore a bowler in high school and college and it dis wonders. The question is are you trying to deny the fact that you're balding as some men do with the comb-overs and such? If that's the case then the hat is just a band-aid.

Find what style works for you without any kind of headwear. Some guys end up looking real good with a shave head. If you're comfortable without a hat and then incorporate a hat for peacocking then I think you'll be in great shape.

Just remember the hat has to come off sometime, and depends how "thin" your hair is getting, receding hairline or bald spot?

my hairline is receding, and the rest thinning. Means less number of hairs per square inch.

I'm not trying to hide my balding. (I used to, but thanks to David De's Inner Game exercices I learnt to accept it and make the best of it.) So my question is really: how do I wear the hat, without looking like I'm trying to hide my head?

Btw, I tried my hair grown out, shaved and army-short. Most of my friends said army-short looked best, and I feel quite comfy with it, too.
